About This File

This is a replacement for E1M8, and boy is it tough! It's a fairly simple map, but is chock full of monsters. Lots of monsters. More monsters than a body should ever have to kill. This map was originally part of a full DOOM1 Episode, but not all the maps worked out very well so I scrapped the project and am releasing the maps that did work. Enjoy!

E1M8 replacement, a obscured arena crossed by slime trails and a stairway to hell. The secrets hold some fun easter eggs. Small fast level.

While it certainly has more monsters than the original E1M8 I would hardly call it "tough" or "more monsters than a body should ever have to kill". Still, its a decent E1M8 replacment so i'm giving it 3/5 with a bonus point for the monty python references.

Thought it was pretty fun. Not actually as hard as it seems like it would be. It's not an unusually good level but it's certainly not bad, either. I'll go ahead and give it a 3/5.

A good enough map, but a slight disappointment after playing some of the other the author's other maps. Worth about 3.5 stars.

Created in 1995 and released in 2003--a whopping 9 years after his magnum opus RRWARD02--RRWARD04 is nothing more than a crummy Phobos Anomaly clone that would've been dated even for '95. It's a damn shame; Richard Ward had a lot of talent for an early mapper, but never quite reached his full potential. 1/5

I remember playing this ages ago when it was still a WIP.  I'm so glad to find it again, it's one that really stuck in my memory (thanks @00_Zombie_00 for bringing it up in the reviews!)  Such a neat atmospheric WAD, love the tower climb concept and the slow burn of action in the map.  It turned out great, right up to the end.

I just finished playing this with Final Doomer and Bratwurst, and it was great! It's easy to see why this is such a wildly praised and recommended megawad. I loved the episodic format, and the radically different locals that each section brings. The wad has such a nice use of color and the pacing of every map is so butter smooth. Every episode does a great job of riding the fine line of challenging without ever falling over into a punishing grind of difficulty.    Believe the hype. This is a must-play.

Quite a trial-and-error map where you need to save often.

This IS NOT your regular Doom 2 magawad mapset.  Maps are small and very few monsters. The big difference is every map was created with a theme or challenge in mind, usually puzzle like, like using archvile jump in order to get over high steps or obstacles.  Even though I didn't enjoy it much, I recognize the effort put on it
