About This File

This is extremly hard if not impossible to complete on the hard level. the only bug I know of is that you can't save it on the hardest level.

A very enjoyable slaughter map (it has to be one of the first, as it's dated March 1995). With some strategy, there's a safe way to kill everything. Lots of ammo for lots of monsters. The finale is great. --4/5

This level is fairly cool too play. That's what we would call a slaughter map. the design is fairly simple, the wad's name is vry appropriate :) A classic, I give it 4/5 - PerOxyd

This is actually from March 1995; Graham Burgess hasn't got the hang of uploading things properly. It's a very simple but fiendishly addictive slaughter map, with a large central arena surrounded by twelve smaller rooms, some of which are filled with ammunition. And monsters, lots of them. It's perfectly balanced on UV, great fun. The pain elementals would have been buggy in 1995, because there are more than 20 lost souls already present in the level. The map looks pretty, like a flower.

Aesthetically this map is very simple, maybe even a little ugly in its lack of decor...but what it lacks in visual appeal this makes up for in gameplay, which is also extremely simple but surprisingly fun, and deceptively hard on higher difficulty levels. 4/5

This is one of those wads that reside on my PC permanently and gets a play once in a while. It's not pretty, the design is not complicated - just a bunch of square rooms (I wonder if that's where the name came from ;-), but the game-play is 100% from start to finish as the difficulty increases steadily while you make your way through the rooms collecting bigger weapons and releasing even more, bigger baddies as you go... Brilliant. An obligatory 5/5 -jb

Great fun and an excellent challenge. Not sure it quite deserves five stars, but everyone else is giving it that, and I don't want to be a spoil-sport. The design is quite simple, but the battles bounce along nicely. A previous reviewer said "On UV, naturally; is there any other way?". Yes: try UV -fast. It's possible. :)

Simple as anything but fun to play, especially when you encourage in-fighting amongst the monsters. Plenty of action, and enough ammunition so that it's more of a pleasant blast than a nail-biting exercise in frustration. The chaingunner room was a bit odd, though, in that it didn't have as many chaingunners as I was expecting. They would have shot each other anyway, I suppose.

The first time I saw this level I gave up after about 30 seconds. A year later, with a few more cyberdemons under my belt, I came back to it, determined to prove I could beat it. I did. (On UV, naturally; is there any other way?) Now I drag it out maybe once or twice a year when I feel the need for some major carnage. Absolutely brilliant! :-)

Some square rooms with lots of monsters. This idea seems to be crappy but it's not. It's great! Probably one of the most played wad by me. 5/5 -Glassyman

"maybe i should try nightmare :)" said the previous reviewer. Yeah, go for it - the UV Speed route might be possible on NM, but you'll probably find the archie room one hell of a pain.

A simple design can be effective. Hard and funny. I found this map in Maximum Doom. 4/5

Awesome. It's possible on UV without saves. Like a HR map but easier.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
