About This File

35 Levels for Zdoom, Plus 5 secret levels. Each level has all new challenges awaiting you. Plenty of use of the features in Zdoom like stealth enemies. There are also some new enemies capable of peforming the most unexpected tricks. There is no scripting this wad because I havent figured it out. The new enemies are a Spectre in one of the secret levels and a deadly floating Romero head. The five Secret levels like the two secret levels in the original Bella are all stunning. There is also a practice level included. Many styles of maps are included, from base to hellish to spaceship.

Though it isn't one of pcorf's personal favorites, I still have a soft spot for this megawad. It strikes a fine balance between goofy adventure and fun gameplay. Bonus points for being tangentially related to Massmouth, another favorite series =P

fairly short but addictive levels, too bad it's only for zDoom (it could run under doom2.exe w/o the useless scripts and stealth monsters) 5/5 anyway :) - PerOxyd

Not technically very good and generally too easy, but definitely has its fun moments. Horrible spelling and a bizarre plot are the icing on this rather weird cake.

This is one of the Greatest wads ever. It is addictive and I kinda like the story even though that part isn't supposed to be imortant. BTW why is this not in the megawads section?

Horrible. Most of the maps just seemed to consist of a bunch of random crap thrown in (such as map01).

Actually I had fun making this wad. But it was a bit of an experiment. My next release "WOS" will be no experiment and will have you looking the other way. -PC

i thought this was a great wad not the best wad ever but great to me :) i actually like the transition from easy as hell to hard as hell it throws the player off and it gives a new element to challenging. My 2nd fav wad next to Alien Vendetta IMO 5/5

As a somewhat experimental project (as Paul has said), you'd expect quality to vary. And it does, with some of these 40 (or 41 if you count test map) levels only ranking in the so-so category (and maybe a few bordering on bad). That said, there are numerous excellent levels in here as well. Most maps are fairly small, but with so many, it's no big deal. Overall, there were more than enough good maps here for me to have fun, and it is definantly worth a D/L - just don't expect every map to be awesome. 4/5

Very short and enjoyable levels. Get boring after level 10 or so depending on your taste. 3/5 -Ofisil

This wad is too easy, but I think easy is fun! The architecture is decent as well. I even like the plot of how the space marine tries to rescue Massmouth since he decided to join Romero. 5/5

^ is a ripoff of the top review except with all positive wording. Compare for yourself. Anyways this is a mixed bag a quality. Some maps seem almost pointless, others are okay, some are quite good (especially Chris's few). While somewhat generous, I'll give this 4* overall.

What a blessed relief it is to find something like this after abandoning the idiotic 3000 monster map idiocy of Speed of Doom out bored drudgery. Clean, neat and basic Doom - I feel so refreshed.

Really good puzzle map in a big dark metal/stone building. It catches the atmosphere of Bob Evans' Eternal Doom stuff, and I think there are even some homages to some other Eternal Doom maps as well (for example, the big two-layered outdoor area looks a bit like the "amusement park" in MAP26).   In my experience the puzzles were a bit easier than in "Silures" or "Excalibur", but it's possible that having played a lot of puzzle map stuff since I played Eternal Doom, having played through the whole canon of Bob Evans and Jim Flynn, and liking to search for Doom secrets in every map has made me recognize certain tropes better. The puzzles I liked most were (the spoilers only give minor hints):
Gameplay is good too, at the start ammo is scarce so the chainsaw and berserk are your friend, and midtiers say hello from the start on, but hitscanners are the biggest threat. Rockets should be saved for archviles until you find the first larger cache.   9,5/10

Fun, challenging set of maps that looks much better than you might expect for the time it was made. These maps will still slap you around a bit on HMP if you're not staying sharp. The author is fond of Chaingunner ambushes which keep you on your toes. I didn't find the SSG until around MAP05, which was cool, I like when its not given out too early. Pistol-starting the last two maps is pretty tough, but doable.   The map designs do a really good job of letting the player see crucial areas from different angles through progression and the layouts are really tidy overall, and feel a bit more modern than a lot of other 94/95 maps I've played. There are some really nice large-scale vistas (like the start of MAP06), nice uses of verticality and a good mixture of tight and more open combat.   Recommended!

Spectacular visuals and engaging combat make this an absolute must play. There's a puzzle with a "Shoot the thing" answer that kind of comes out of left field and can be an easy place to get stuck if you're not on your toes, but that hardly stops the map from being a thrilling masterpiece.

E3M9's refrain of back-tracking to a church for keys is a little tedious, and there are a few moments where things can become a frustrating key/switch hunt as you figure out what to do next, but aside from that, this an intense and rewarding adventure with beautiful lighting and architecture.
