This *might* not be quite as fine as the first HR. It is still great. Lots of gunslinging and making stuff go BOOM. I never found it *too* hard, but then I always enjoy coming up with new ways to attack a given force. I've never had to take on combined arms forces with whole *squads* of archviles before; that added a whole new dimension to Doom combat. Lovely work, guys.

A long-awaited megaWAD is finally here! The maps are as beatiful as they are deadly. The project itself is a testament to the hard work and dedication of a lot of people - especially Andy Olivera, who deserves a standing ovation for bringing this masterpiece to completion. If you want more of the same type of gameplay that made HR and AV so addicting, look no further. Though this doesn't quite live up to all the hype it is a worthy successor of HR, and right up there with the best. --5/5

A mixed bag, really. Some maps are really awesome, and offer quite unique concepts and fun challenges, while others are just lazily designed filler levels that are only hard simply because of the monster spam. Not a horrible megawad, but definitely could've been better.

Great! Ignore the pooe Newstuff review - this is one of my favorite wads and countless times as good as the first HR! You MUST DOWNLOAD THIS WAD!

OMG this is pure awesomeness! Even better than the first HR. Just as hard though... I don't think I could beat it on any higher difficulty setting than ITYTD, but it's great fun and one hell of a challenge even on the easiest... 5*/5

Another awesome map set, with new music to boot. Also really challenging, and pretty fun to play through (even though there are still a few confusing level layouts). Only play on Ultra-Violence if you're really into challenging gameplay (or you're a masochist). 4/5

This wad is garbage, they play like crap, and look worse. The map design is just plain awful too. 1-5 - Sniper 109

Legendary. Maps all have an impressive gameplay and nice ideas. Music is really, really good. It's better than the original Hell Revealed IMO, and my favorite Megawad ever. Very hard :) 5/5, [WH]-Wilou84

For the first time in 5 years, I was actually scared to play Doom! Great gameplay, very difficult, and full of suspense. A nice change from HR. 5/5 -EarthQuake

Some levels' architecture is simply astounding, making the levels very engaging. If you are skilled enough, you will have memorable moments of survival when you take on insane odds with your weapon. Unfortunately, like in the original, the designers' go overboard and create levels that are too difficult (and mundane) even on the easiest skills by simply placing too many monsters. By placing a zillion enemies the gameplay is affected adversely, especially for later levels (ie. Map 32). - 4 stars.

Who knew an HR map32 could be even harder than the original? I kept hearing about how this is less hard than the original, but the moment I got halfway through the first map I knew it was going to be even harder. This is a damn fine mapset.

The way the gameplay is set up makes everything predictable, repetetive, and extremely mundane extremely quickly. You do the same thing over and over and over again to the point that it's not even fun to begin with. While it is a good visual piece, that has no merit while one is truly (attempting) to play this. It's really a big disappointment since this was supposed to be a successor to HR1, but it turned out to be Nuts 4.

Hell Revealed 2 is a textbook example of what not to do in a hard megawad. It has it's shining moments, but for the most part, it's a tedious slog that was far more concerned about being hard than it ever was about being fun.

Taken from my comment on MtPain27's video.

I remember playing this wad a long time ago. In fact, this was my first PWAD I ever played! Also, I'm a DOOM GOD!!! I only died 10 times in the whole WAD. Map 30, 07, 15, 23, 25, 19, and 31 were my most favorite maps. 32 was the hardest map in the bunch. 5/5 - Killer11223346

What's so difficult&fun anyway if you're given a Megasphere, 300 cells and 50 rockets and all weapons?? Play on HMP for your own sanity. 3 out of 5 stars

The name comes probably from the fact that HR had monster hordes in the most part, and that the texture theme was quite rigid too. Now it's really limited to desert bricks typical to Doom 2. That said, the levels look dull and monotonous, but are helped by some tense action and catchy death metal midi tunes. Sometimes it's just too much overkill with overguns, tho. 4/5. IC

Overall, an outstanding wad. It is extremely difficult, so save often and be prepared to die.

Good map, ammo management is required somewhat, no big deal since we give you a plasma rifle, and this tiny "ammo starvation" is fairly rebalanced later on the level anyway. Some texture misalignment indeed… The theme is respected, and I like this kind of "easy but don't sleep" gameplay.

I was expecting much worst from what I've read just bellow, but in fact the angry guy in the comment was probably just too lazy to use an obvious berserk that is easy to find if you aren't blind… I'm not a great fan of ammo starvation either, but if only you use your brain, you'll understand that there is a lot of demon piñata that you easily punch from a safe distance instead of casually shooting them in sight and waste your ammo, and it's quite fun to gib them actually ! There are some confusing moments though, but nothing crazy either… Now, there are some sweet little design and decoration that I liked. The usual short map that isn't transcendant, but that you'll finish with satisfaction.

A set that work pretty well :) Just found out that this is by the same creator of JNNHangar and stuff, and as its previous map this mapset is good while staying on basic stuff, also the layout feels a little bit less linear for the good. I still find that it is rather not enough decorated and blend sometimes, but it is ok. E1M8 was the little "challenge", fair last level ! +1 for the awersome secret level !
