About This File

A um.. I don't know, I suck at describing stuff. My best map yet though, hope you enjoy. I recommend you run it on something compatible with doom.exe demos, as stx-Vile made a very nice maxrun.

I was expecting much worst from what I've read just bellow, but in fact the angry guy in the comment was probably just too lazy to use an obvious berserk that is easy to find if you aren't blind… I'm not a great fan of ammo starvation either, but if only you use your brain, you'll understand that there is a lot of demon piñata that you easily punch from a safe distance instead of casually shooting them in sight and waste your ammo, and it's quite fun to gib them actually ! There are some confusing moments though, but nothing crazy either…

Now, there are some sweet little design and decoration that I liked.

The usual short map that isn't transcendant, but that you'll finish with satisfaction.

Simply not enough ammo on UV - no chainsaw. Can't be bothered saving every 5 seconds and re-attempting everything 20 times facing multiple barons and cacos. Call this fun? You must be reeeeaaaally bored.

Definitely not for the faint hearted as Demon / Spectre punching is a must. If for some reason you don't find the Berserk after the first lift your in for a tough challenge. Fairly easy on UV only, but use -fast and you have to be a lot more nimble on your toes. There are a few nice (nasty) traps, so save often! There's a lot of action for such a smallish level, nice work Mr. Baldy. 4/5

This is a good fun level with some nice new textures. It's not too long and not too hard, although you can't really finish it unless you find the berzerk pack near the beginning. The berzerk pack is sort-of half-hidden; the level would be better if it was out in the open, because there are a lot of spectres and demons. It gets a bit tedious punching them but the level is good fun.

Really good, maybe a tad too hard.

Great looking map, small and detailed, flows quite well. The rocket launcher and ability to snipe barons makes it a bit on the easy side. Berserk kills are cool, but demons are really no challenge. 3.5/5

Normally I think Baldy's levels are a bit overrated, but I really liked this one. Deatiling is spot on (especially as it's doom.exe compatable) with good use of some nice new textures. Only gripe I have is the ammo balance is a bit too tight for my liking. I don't think you should ever force the player into using the fists (even if it is just demons/spectres). But still, I'll be nice and give it 5/5

Good map. Pity you didn't post Vile's run along with it.

an ok map, but too hard because there is not enough/much ammo, details design and architecture are just average, linear 3/5

A nicely designed little map that has great texture usage and lighting. Unlike other reviewers here, I rather enjoyed the tight ammo placement. It forced me to be careful in order to survive. My only gripe is the lack of any real ending. The map just ends abruptly with a switch in a small room. The toughest fights are at the very start, so the progression could have been better. Overall, this map is worth a play for the unique theme and detail, although it is rather short.

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
