Playability notes: Requires ZDoom-based ports. It can be finished: you may have to do some unexpected backtracking.

The Community is Falling is an amusing jokemap, fitting neatly into its time period from the perspective of the mapper, and manages to hold interest long enough to be entertaining. There is the occasional cinematic to wait through and the general layout is nothing special to behold, but it serves its purpose adequately. As a jokewad you may not expect particularly engaging encounters, but this one does try to at least give the player something new (if completely unexpected) as the journey continues.

Being a single map, there is a believable progression of difficulty over time: harder enemies, stronger weapons. What changes up in this mapset is the use of different enemies altogether, whether it be Doomguys of varying color (all of which have different weapons to worry about) or the "newbs" that are no different than Demons, albeit occasionally given a different speed. While the absolute number of fights is few and contained, rarely are the themes repeated, leaving the only tedium either in learning how to handle a fight or in the non-combat situations.

While there is enough variety and amusement in most of the fights, the major drawback is the final fight, consisting of what is essentially a Spider Mastermind with the hitbox of a chaingunner and around three times as much health. There is some modicum of strategy to be found here, such as manipulating their position until spamming rockets or plasma is consistent, but for the most part the enemy simply has too much health, turning this encounter into a listless endeavor.

I recommend a run through the map if you don't mind a few little cutscenes (won't take that long anyway) and if you're not interested in the final boss then MDK it to clean up.

Whoever said this level was lame should be shot in the head. Very comical, especially early on. If you like playing these sorts of levels, you'll like this one.

This WAD is neat. Really, it has fun enemies, the level is well designed and the stupidity of them newbs and trolls just amazes me. The final boss is tough, though. But this little joke WAD was cool to play through ! LEGENDARY

Haha! I love the part where the newbies run around in circles spouting dumb remarks. 4/5 for a joke wad. And not bad as a zdoom map either.

A very dissapointing wad for Kaiser stamdards. Definantly the weak point of the Kaiser_* series, given that the vast majority of this series is superb. Better luck next time.

Nice wad! Although I don't get the injokes, I do get good gameplay and this has it. It's as though John Romero and Oscar Wilde collaborated to make a Doom WAD. :o)

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
