It's excellent, and if you liked the well-known megawads from the mid-90's (like Alien Vendetta and such), you'll enjoy this one, too. At least, I did. This wad hasn't innovation in mind, but solid, classical fun. 4/5

A very nice megawad providing a challenge to most players out there. Learge levels towards the middle of the file, lots of monsters and creative environments. Also a nice collection of hard and soft firefights!!!. Get the Legacy version by Jive, it´s quite good too!. 4 stars.

Very interesting wad and quite unique, there are some bad points, this wad is quite rough round the edges and some game play issues. But some of the levels are truly stunning (map24 and 29 stand out for that) Also there are some interesting concepts used, try map14 for starts. In the end a very good wad. 4 stars. cannonball

An excellent megawad that kept me entertained for about a month on-and-off. The levels flow brilliantly as you make your way through this atmospheric epic adventure. There are a couple of dodgy maps, but what do you expect from a one-man-megawad? Some texture alignment issues and some baron areas, but nothing to distract you from the excellent game-play. Well worth the download. 5/5

Nice gameplay with average detail, so expect good levels, though some of them were realy anoying cause of the switchunting and backtracking, level 16 is a very good example of this. 4/5

Definitely overpraised, not comparable with av or other classic wads.

you see it often, the fans of Vile Flesh always say this is an underrated classic. there are reasons for that, the level design offers nothing new, it's all just fancy stock textures, and the gameplay, well, the first few maps are quite linear, then the maps delve into very large maps that tend to be rather tedious to fight through. it's rather progressive, in other words, shorter stuff, then longer stuff, and the difficulty actually scales rather well. LOTS of imps and LOTS of hell knights will be around these levels, seems that the arch-viles aren't advertised as much as the wad title states.

the pacing becomes more like the linear Eternal Doom levels as you go along, this is most easily seen from MAP16 onwards. you're probably gonna get stuck at least once, but it's easy to figure out what to do next right afterwards, just find out what you're missing. most secrets are simple enough, but hard to actually figure out. in between all the combat there's gonna be switch presses, lots of them in every map, although figuring what each switch does isn't that hard. a few interesting themes get tackled using the stock textures, in an attempt to make the maps more memorable (as if their length really doesn't make them any more memorable). the music is all nicely crafted and adrenaline-pumping.

however you set it, Vile Flesh requires a lot of time to go through it, and isn't speedrun friendly.

Yes, I like this one. It has a simple and unpretentious classic style and the levels have a nice flow; the only thing that seems to have kept it from greatness is the fact that it came out much later than the other classic megawads (this one does not have the ultra-detailed design that is the way of today).

Nice architecture and detail...Though I think more ammo might have been slightly useful. Then again, I was playing at Hurt Me Plenty. I dunno. But an excellent wad, considering it's your first. And that you did it yourself.

The design is impressive as the maps are huge (and often make you go 'woah'), I wouldn't call them good to look at though. Gameplay varies mostly from irritating to fucking aggravating, as enemy placements usually get your blood boiling. Furthermore, it's usually not that fun playing through, looking for the next switch or dodging enemies and running past areas 'cause you're out of ammo and armor, again. I'm being a bit harsh here, there's some good memories to be had with this one, all in all.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Occasionally there are flashes of brilliance and overall the levels look pretty good. On the other hand the author has some annoying habits, which really started to bug me after a while. I'll mention the Eternal-style switch hunts and the use of too contrasting lights in areas where monsters can roam. The levels look mostly pretty polished, but the level layouts are often boring. Well, maybe it's inevitable that you get bored with one style in one-man megawads...

About half of the maps are very good but the rest is really nothing to write home about. 3*

The architecture is not really anything to write home about, though it is OK, perhaps even good. But despite this slight shortcoming, these maps are awesome! The designs are huge and immense, and the gameplay is well balanced and each map is a blast to play. Nothing more to day, but a MUST download! 5/5

These maps are pretty neat, and the music is fabulous, but this author is super stingy about giving the player any resources to kill the very few monsters scattered around in these maps. I only got to map03 before i ragequitted from being killed by little zombies because i simply didn't have the ammo to kill them with. Even a chainsaw here and there would have erased that flaw. But no. -40oz

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
