About This File

This is the chilling finale to The Shores of Hell, but with a few extra twists. There are many more enemies and things to figure out. There is an entire section that cannot be reached without TWO people playing. Here is a warning... Even on the easiest skill setting, this level will be challenging. Here's another warning... I created this level on a 90 MHz Pentium with 16 Meg of memory. There are loads and loads of enemies running around. I do not recommend playing this level on your old 386. My 486 66 with 32 Meg of memory was even a little sluggish. I am happy to tell you that I just completed the original music for this level-- my sequencing software is crummy!

Awful. It's annoyingly fiddly to get out of the first area unless you look at the level in an editor; and it discourages trial and error with inescapable lava. Then you have to shoot an unmarked wall panel to open a door, and there is a crushing ceiling, and unintuitive switches. The whole level is a lesson in frustratingly poor design and it's not entertaining at all.

Nice, challenging and creative map. And it's from the guy who (some years later) brought you STRAIN!

Fantastic map. And to the guy who said it was lifted from Heroes: you've got that ass-backwards. Heroes was a compilation wad, in which !wow!.wad was included.

"The word you will say after playing this" Wow? You mean wow.wad? What really put me off was in the bugs section, it says, "The big area where the cyber-guy is, has a spot where HOM effect is visable." That really makes it seem like another wow.wad.

"This was just lifted directly from E1M8 of Heroes." said someone above. That's totally backwards. Heroes was a compilation wad - this was the original map. Jon Landis made some wonderfully creative, pioneering maps, and was never content just to make "more of the same" or to stick to well-worn themes. As for the guy quibbling about a small HOM, the vanilla engine had all sorts of issues that were hard to work around - JL did the best he could within those parameters.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?
