About This File

New level for Doom2. All three keys, all difficulty levels used, the cyber-demon is there for difficulty level 4, some tricks and traps, first real level I have made for single play Good for Deathmatch too. Fun and a challenge.

Crap. Worth 1 or 2, but I'll rate it 0 for whoever thought it was a good idea to upload this shit in 2004 and making me waste two minutes of my time downloading and playing this.

This is dated December 1995. It's a good although anonymous dungeon-style map, with an odd difficulty curve (surprisingly tough fight at the start, easy combat thereafter, except for the irritating cyberdemon fight). It's not bad for such an old level, large enough to feel meaty but with enough diversity that it doesn't become boring. I warmed to it as it went on. Any designer who credits Jim Flynn in the credits at least has good taste.

It looks quite good, with only a minor texture glitch, and plays good, too. Maybe, on skill 3 it's a bit too easy (there's a radiation suit and an invicibility that you really don't need), so I suggest you play it on a higher skill level. The map isn't overly large, but enough to have fun for a while. 3.5/5 -Milian

Disregard earlier review server error caused me to download the incorrect file. So what do I like? The textures combined with the sharp lighting contrast between heavy dark and rather bright areas. What I don't like is the rather empty feeling level with large rooms and corridors filled with medium tier enemies on Ultra Violence, i.e cacodemons and hellknights, while only given a shotgun and chaingun. The issue with this is that encounters become more tedious than dangerous. I would add a super shotgun or spread out the medium tier enemy placement. The level detailing leaves a lot to be desired with the large empty grey rooms/corridors reminding me more of Half-Life than Doom. With some more detailing and better monster/weapon placement I would rank this higher but as it stands this level leaves a lot to be desired.

the map looks good visually but what does the have to do with doom 64? and how do I kill an archvile with a pistol? and a cyberdemon with a chain gun?
