The Good:

  - Mapsets were awesome. Non linear. Larger than medium sized.

  - "New" monsters were great!

  - Loads of clever secrets - most of them rewarding

  - Great monster placement

  - Lots of shooting, some good puzzles

  - There's a Titan II

The Bad:

-  Maps 08 and 09 were a bit slaughtery, but nothing extremely outrageous.

-  Music could have been updated

I didn't think I would like this WAD at first, but it turned out that I really did have fun with it. It was a little slow getting started, but after the first 2 Maps, this game took off like a bullet! I wished it was longer, but hey, there's Titan II which, according to the reviews I've read, is even better!

Great job! Thanks for making this great WAD. :)

4.5 out of 5 Stars

it's ok. the one thing I don't like most is MAP08 where you had to kill a certain monster to proceed. combat is mostly good throughout. that last level is really slaughtery fun.

Pretty good, if a little uneven levelset. Gameplay is king here, while the looks can be rather bad at times. This wad has more innovation than quality, there was one particular trick that made me literally gasp in awe! The final level is the most interesting, although it brought my 1200 Mhz computer down to its knees...

Good for its time... but not nearly as good as the sequel 4/5

Can't say I was a fan of this one. The design is great with attractive environments, sensible use of ZDoom features, and well-hidden secrets. Unfortunately the enemy placement and general gameplay flips between annoyingly boring and annoyingly frustrating, with many switchhunts made understandable only by the use of Duke3D-like camera screens. MAP09 looks incredible, and is probably the only level actually worth having a go at. 1/5

Ixnatifual has clearly put a lot of work into all of this using all the features and massive detailing. I was impressed, and the gameplay was like none other. Ending could be a biiit shorter though ;) 5/5 stars -Kirby

Still one of my favourites. The battle at the end around the giant Ziggurat thing remains one of my favourite Doom fights, and the later levels generally are all excellent. Many of the areas in the first few levels can seem a little unremarkable, but nevertheless they're all well crafted tech-bases. I have no complaints to make in the gameplay department, everything seemed balanced and on UV I had no major problems with either ammo or health.

Good design and layout in most maps but gameplay is irregular. Sometimes it´s a punch of adrenaline and sometimes is quite boring or has excess of monsters. It gets warmer and warmer while you go on, so don´t give up in the first two maps, that are really average and somewhat boring. The architecture is also irregular, from plain to detailed, but never with much eye candy. 3 stars.

Really great levels. I wouldn't be playing Doom 2 at all currently had it been for these levels.

Not quite 5, but a good 4.5. I'm sending in a 4 though, just to lower the overall rating. Still, great levels and a must play!

Annoyed me to no end. I hate it when someone wants to tell me how to play, take the scripted saves and the puzzles that are impossible without saving and shove them. Further: the author didn´t mention that jumping is required, searching for the unmarked secrets will more likely cause rsi than being fun and he expects the player to plow through 8 average levels before one that is good. 3/5

Awarding it two stars because Map 2 right next to the exit is bugged. Monsters will not trigger so it's impossible to exit the map and continue to the next map without cheating using either warp to next level or noclip to go through the wall to activate the monsters. This critical fail alone caused me to give up the wad though it does appear to be well designed. I'm intrigued enough by Titan 1 to want to play Titan 2 but I hope it's not bugged like this wad.

Supremely overrated - this should piss off most Doomers, the 12 year old's comments above notwithstanding. Very average design, very average scripting, and altogether very average.

Worth giving 5 stars for the mirror/hellknight trick alone (map7, afaik - check this out ). Add to that tastefully used slopes, best usage of industralish textures ever, great dark atmosphere and breathtaking landscape of the last level and you have asskicking set. Too much good stuff to mention - play it by yourself -- Brun Ohn

Really good puzzle map in a big dark metal/stone building. It catches the atmosphere of Bob Evans' Eternal Doom stuff, and I think there are even some homages to some other Eternal Doom maps as well (for example, the big two-layered outdoor area looks a bit like the "amusement park" in MAP26).   In my experience the puzzles were a bit easier than in "Silures" or "Excalibur", but it's possible that having played a lot of puzzle map stuff since I played Eternal Doom, having played through the whole canon of Bob Evans and Jim Flynn, and liking to search for Doom secrets in every map has made me recognize certain tropes better. The puzzles I liked most were (the spoilers only give minor hints):
Gameplay is good too, at the start ammo is scarce so the chainsaw and berserk are your friend, and midtiers say hello from the start on, but hitscanners are the biggest threat. Rockets should be saved for archviles until you find the first larger cache.   9,5/10

Fun, challenging set of maps that looks much better than you might expect for the time it was made. These maps will still slap you around a bit on HMP if you're not staying sharp. The author is fond of Chaingunner ambushes which keep you on your toes. I didn't find the SSG until around MAP05, which was cool, I like when its not given out too early. Pistol-starting the last two maps is pretty tough, but doable.   The map designs do a really good job of letting the player see crucial areas from different angles through progression and the layouts are really tidy overall, and feel a bit more modern than a lot of other 94/95 maps I've played. There are some really nice large-scale vistas (like the start of MAP06), nice uses of verticality and a good mixture of tight and more open combat.   Recommended!

Spectacular visuals and engaging combat make this an absolute must play. There's a puzzle with a "Shoot the thing" answer that kind of comes out of left field and can be an easy place to get stuck if you're not on your toes, but that hardly stops the map from being a thrilling masterpiece.

E3M9's refrain of back-tracking to a church for keys is a little tedious, and there are a few moments where things can become a frustrating key/switch hunt as you figure out what to do next, but aside from that, this an intense and rewarding adventure with beautiful lighting and architecture.
