About This File

BBG claims he does not know how to map, but <beep> makes the process easy. As such, I wanted to find out how that fits me. It is a speedmap (not 100 minutes, but still considerable), and is intentionally kept small. I once had an idea for a starting room, and this seemed like a good point to finally draw it, along with some more to actually make it a map.

It starts out with a brick-metal-lava cave and goes over to a small outside area with a -- how else could it be -- brick building. There's lots of imps to trash with the shotgun(s) and fists. Fistfest.

Quite small level. Ambiance is good. Gameplay @ UV is way too simple, and after getting the blue key you can just run for a few seconds, grab the red key, run again a few seconds, kill the demon, and finish the level - leaving more than half of the monsters unkilled. Besides that, the monster placement feels a bit uninterested. Overall: better than meh, but below average, so 2.5/5, + .5 as encouragement because author shows promise.

Nice design, some cool traps. Slowly teleporting imps were a little bit annoying.

Very nice level. A bit too short for single player, but looks to be an excellent deathmatvching wad.

Pretty good, but it should be better if it were a just little bigger (an extra room or two).

A nice little map. Well-made, but only a mere appetizer.

This is dated October 2004. It's not bad; the detailing is cute for a speedmap, and there's a good bit where you're encouraged to punch out a bunch of imps. The big problem is that it's very short - only 62 baddies, most of them the aforementioned imps, and only really two big fights, the second of which is easy. Overall it would have made more sense as a 100% Tyson level with the berserk pack right at the start.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
