Lots of monsters, a fair number of puzzles. Highly non-linear - there are multiple solutions to nearly all the puzzles. You may need a 486/66 or better for this one (or low detail, or reduced screen size...).

Jim Flynn put together some kickass maps in the early days of Doom. Unfortunately this is not one of them. Unless of course you like crawling around a bunch of narrow ledges (with lava beneath you) being strafed by Lost Souls with hardly any ammo. That's just the start and when a map starts like this I lose patience with the whole thing.

This is dated August 1994. The author's 1994 levels are amongst the few that are still good today. This is okay. It's big and complex, with clever use of height variations and transforming scenery, but it has a hideously annoying climbing bit, an aggravating maze, and indeed it looks horrible. You get vast, vast amounts of ammo against a fairly easy lot of baddies. Nonetheless it kept me amused for half an hour, which is more than can be said for e.g. Watchmen.

Good, but a bit disjointed, with some overly complex puzzles. Also, most of the map can be skipped entirely without the need for any tricks.

      Disregard earlier review server error caused me to download the incorrect file. So what do I like? The textures combined with the sharp lighting contrast between heavy dark and rather bright areas. What I don't like is the rather empty feeling level with large rooms and corridors filled with medium tier enemies on Ultra Violence, i.e cacodemons and hellknights, while only given a shotgun and chaingun. The issue with this is that encounters become more tedious than dangerous. I would add a super shotgun or spread out the medium tier enemy placement. The level detailing leaves a lot to be desired with the large empty grey rooms/corridors reminding me more of Half-Life than Doom. With some more detailing and better monster/weapon placement I would rank this higher but as it stands this level leaves a lot to be desired.
