About This File

Started out with no real plan since this is my first level, ended up quite cohesive though. BTW I like secrets .

A small unfocused map from August '94. Most of the doors are unmarked, although they do show up on the automap. Worse yet, the exit is not marked as well. The red and the blue keys offer two short side trips when the level is almost over. The clever Cyber scare is the only highlight.

This was made in 1994 and not 2005. If it was 2005 it would have scored 3/5. Even though this is the authors first attempt, it sucks. Unmarked keyed doors, haphazard layout, keys in secrets... as well as many other how-not-to-build-a-d ecent-wad errors. 1994/4985

Unmarked doors and overall fairly ugly design let this down as well as the fact that this wad is boring as the map is very short and holds little gameplay, also the optional secrets are pointless. Stereotypical '94 wad 1/5 stars

A couple of oddball Doom maps from July of 1994.   E3M1 is just a badly texture hallway hell map with a mandatory yellow key secret.   E3M2 is a slightly better map where you only need the red and yellow(also a mandatory secret) keys to exit while the blue key leads you a switch hunt throughout the map til you're rewarded with a BFG9000. One section of the map I like was the room full of nearly 100 Lost souls which can easily dispatch by shooting the barrels surrounding them creating an amusing chain reaction massacre.    Not really the worst 1994 maps I've played but there are many others better than these maps.

we have so many E1 replacements it's hard to keep track of them all. Deadly Standards adds to that pile with these maps, most of them are pretty short and fairly servicable. it's not too amazing but it doesn't need to be. E1M1 is a good starting level, E1M4 I didn't like all that much, and E1M8 was psychotic and I loved it. as with any multi-authored level set, this obviously is a mixed bag of sorts.

a rather surprisingly good set of three levels, tons of space to move around in, but you've got your meat set out for you here. first level isn't too much, although the water is quite deceiving. second one has you finding three separate shrines of sorts in a much longer adventure, but with some pretty tough combat to boot, last level is more open fields, loads of mancubi and arachnotrons plus several other enemies and pickups, a tough amount that bends into slaughter territory, but still managing to be a little easier to tangle with due to the large amount of space. I certainly agree, it's quite appropriate for what it has.

A pretty cool slightly-difficult megawad with nice architecture and new types of monsters. I like it.
