About This File

With the apparent downfall of DOOM due to the recent release of Quake, or at least the alpha version (but I think even that's better than DOOM), I'm going to stop making DOOM ][ levels. From now on, all my levels are going to be for Quake. But that doesnt mean I won't continue the fear series. Fear III will be a Quake level, and will be truly amazing (so long as I understand how the hell CAD works :)

As for this level, it's basically just a military base of some kind, with some traps here and there. I got the deathmatch test version of Quake when I was about halfway through this level so the latter part of it is pretty much reflective of Quake (for example, the sky teleporters).

It's good, and there's nothing really annoying at all.

This is dated March 1996, a few days after the release of QTEST, which must have been a sad time for the Doom scene (everybody defected). The level design starts off a bit like Quake II, with a similar yellow sky and a techbase feel, and then turns into an Egyptian dungeon. It's a lot brighter and more colourful than QTEST. The gameplay is solid, flows well, although the architecture is very square. The final room resembles "Adventure" for the Atari 2600.

10 minutes of average gameplay and boring textures. 3/5 Belial

It's a good little level. It's a bit symmetrical, but branches off just enough to keep it interesting. Fun and sleek.

Short and simple, but sweet. Not detailed at all, but stylish. Good for a quick play -- Brun Ohn

even though the year is 2005 now, I think this a nice level.

Ok I guess. I'd give it 3 if it wasn't for the annoying door/crusher puzzle thing and the annoying amount of chain gunners 2/5

Nice little level with a classical Doom 2 atmosphere, but a little boring texturing scheme. 3/5 stars.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
