An update of Training.WAD [old version included in trnwadold.zip]. Fixes some bugs and some minor touch ups.

The UAC has genetically engineered the foes you met in hell from Top Secret Samples they obtained in controlled tests of teleportational gates. Now they've programed them for training operations. But when you go behind the scenes on your own investigation, you descover they're not training you... They're training them! For what? That you will discover after your done with 'em, if you can survive!

Actually from 26 October 1994, and the zipfile contains an older version from the end of September 1994 (the finished version has more detailing and a proper final battle; it starts on E1M8 and in the first version you die at the end). This is very good for such an early level. The layout is entertaining, the textures are appropriate, and there is constant action. It's still unpolished, though, but with a bit of work this could pass for a modern-day retro Episode One level.

      What I disliked: The 64/PSX (whatever) sounds, the lack of ammo, the unrewarding secrets, the recoiling of weapons and the "new" translucent Imps. I especially disliked the atmosphere - my eyes were hurting after Map 04. Almost every button you activate will spawn monsters coming out of the woodwork.    I DID like the Mapsets, though. It's unfortunate that the atmosphere ruined them for me.   This game should've been called "Spectre" 'cause there were more of them than every other monster in the game. Again, the gloomy atmosphere made them especially annoying.   I've read the sequel to this WAD is much better...but for this one, it just wasn't fun for me.   1 1/2 Stars out of 5

      Layout is superb, but balance of monsters and arsenal is awful. Shotgun and Chaingun with very limited ammo vs all hell.

      Cool circular layout and a very high level of detail. Gameplay provides a fun challenge and none of it feels like a chore. 4/5

      Impressive visuals and scale for its time. Epic memes are thankfully limited to secret areas. map04/final quarter stretch is extremely cheeseable compared to the rest. Plenty of time spent cleaning up turret enemies. 3/5
