About This File

This is the sequel to my old megawad "Scythe". Expect better looking and bigger levels. unfortunately, the last 3 levels are missing, because I am so lazy and I haven't been satisfied with my attempts at making map28. I _might_ release the last 3 maps some time in the future, but do not count on it. (Update: the last 3 maps are now completed!)

I highly enjoyed this wad. Good looking detail that doesn't interfere, challenging gameplay, and an all-around excellent megawad. 5/5 - Kirby

Now when the last 3 maps have been released, it's THE very best megawad ever. Mindblowingly amazing stuff, imo.

One of the best wads ever created (along with AV, Eternal, Memento Mori 1-2 and Claustro' 1024), sadly it turns into a nauseating slaughter-fest after those green ivy-covered levels and it's not too much fun. Makes HR look like a walk in the park. Still, 4.5/5

Not as good as fun to play as Scythe. But it's pretty fucking close. 4.9/5

Very great wad, but I'm afraid its 3 levels short of a complete megawad. And I ran into a problem at level 25; at the end of level (after the blue key door) I couldn't reach the exit because the gateway was too short me to fit through. I had to use the no clipping cheat to get through. Other than that, the levels were very challenging and enjoyable. The new enemies (especially the red zombie marine) were indeed super deadly. I really enjoyed it. I wish the rest of the megawad gets completed soon.

You've done it again, sir. The only detracctor for this MegaWAD was that it was not finished (it ended at MAP27 abruptly). It will not take a star away -- The detail is great, the battles are geat, and the episode system is wickedly cool, too. 5 out of 5. -prdarkfox

I liked the original Scythe more. Small and action-packed is the way I like 'em. Hard to call this one a sequel, the style is completely different. Still one of the best wads ever, though Kama Sutra is better IMO (out of the more recent megawads). Erik put much more effort in detailing and surprisingly, it works like a charm. I'd say this is more like AV 2 than Scythe 2. Breaking it down into 5 map episodes is the best idea ever. MAP27 ownz all, best map ever. 5/5 - Belial

Great wad introducing some extra ideas like some new monsters which really work well and an interesting level progression, which has been copied in many other wads (eg Vanguard). Simply put this is excellent and worthy sequel. Is it better than the first is pretty much peoples own preferences though I think it is.....just. 5 stars.

A departure from Scythe 1, this sequel remains heavily inspired by numerous sources including Quake 1. Many of the designs are wonderful and creative while the weapon and enemy balance is one of the best around. Varied gameplay and scenery makes for one of the best Megawads around today! Scythe 2 truely has something for everyone. 5/5 - Dittohead

Gameplay is pretty good, detail is great, but still, it's not anything I haven't already seen. It's certainly above average, but like I said, it's really nothing revolutionary or groundbreaking; but it's still hella fun. 4/5 -bardcat

The only thing preventing me from giving this a 5/5 is how ball-busting getting to the secret exit in map31 is. (speedrunning + evil marines = dick move, Alm.)

First off, this wad is amazing. I like how there are so many themes because of the 5-level mini-episodes, though I started to dislike the levels after level 20. Second, this wad is MONSTROUSLY hard. I can't believe I beat it on HMP! (Albeit with a low kill count on some levels) Third off, where can I get the last 3 levels? Fourth: Don't take another three years to finish Scythe X, because 3 years wait for 10 levels is a tad long, don't you think? Last: 5/5

The style of Scythe is about heart-pumping action in a detailed and beautiful environment, realism is not a priority. Gameplay is very enjoyable, fast-paced and challenging. Music is really superb. I imagine coop would play brilliantly for this one. Also, I strongly recommend that you lower the difficulty by at least one level when you hit level 24. And there is a surprise or two in store for the Doomer who thinks he's seen it all ^^. 5 Stars. --- Starburst.

THIS WAD HAS OFFICIALLY MADE ME PARANOID! I can't play any doom level now without looking all around me and checking every single little corner before touching a key or a switch. and everytime i do i spin 360 to look for a trap i might have triggered. This Wad is evil. cruel and i LOVE IT. 5 stars btw incase you think i'm being negative

Dunno much about technical flaws, but in gameplay department it's one of the best thought and choreographed wads I ever played. Seems like massive amounts of playtesting. Even last, most hardcore levels depend on planning and methodical conquering the map, instead of chaotical gorefest known from other hardcore wads. In many places BFG is used on regular basis, like mere shotgun and it's still challenging, how cool is that? :) Maps are beautiful, flow is great and immersion is here. 1337/5-- Brun Ohn

Well, 79 votes including this and still a full 5 stars. One of only a limited number of good 2005 megawads. 1024.wad, ksutra.wad, and sci2.wad (although this has only 20 SP levels) are the only other good megawads I can think of from 2005. So make sure you play this masterpiece. Also, let me know if I missed other good megawads from this year (BTW, a wad must replace at least half of the game it is for for me to consider it a megawad.)

I loved the final maps. I played on HMP knowing to expect hell, and boy did I get, but the maps were fair and well designed throughout, and of course always surprising and unexpected. I'm finally getting the hang of how to kill the red barons and plasma marines (sort of). Making a criticism is hard, but what I can think of is that while the hard levels were appropriately hard and hectic the medium difficulty levels didnt flow as smoothly for their level of difficulty. Anyway, congrats on finishing Scythe2!

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.
