About This File

This is a story-driven WAD roughly in the vein of H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Make sure you read the back story at the end of this file as it will enhance your gameplay. This WAD was started in 1995 while I was still in college, then shelved for ten years while I participated in "Real Life". I recently had some free time and, after discovering a number of outstanding DOOM utilities (DoomBuilder is an incredible editor), I decided to part the mothballs and finish the WAD. The original WAD was greatly extended and enhanced, and I'm satisfied with the result. I hope you will be too.

This WAD did a great job creating a similar atmosphere to Lovecraft's stories, with the well-chosen music and the world going from the normal to the unsettling Lovecraftian atmosphere just like the master's stories. The level is big, but has a great flow. It also tells a story rather than plunging the player into action, without becoming boring (unlike modern games tend to do). The action becomes wicked enough for those who do not care about storylines, too. Simply brilliant!

Excellent. Second time through I found a teleporter to a large "command room" section with maps all over the walls and loads of weapons that I had entirely missed the first time around (hint: check the apartment closely-there's more than one teleporter). Level needs tightening up but the detail in this thing is incredible.

A great map with great atmosphere, Kadath is also fun to play. The only thing that brings the score down are the few annoying areas, such as the maze. A recommended download! ****

Now that is one excellent map. Non-linear, with great gameplay and balance, and some nice detail too. The music helps the atmosphere a lot, as does the starting area with custom textures. Didn't have trouble navigating the maze. Difficulty is well planned, and progresses throughout the level, reaching a climax in a very satisfying final battle. 4/5 - Belial

The talk of a "story-driven WAD" made me expect masses of crap scrolling text, but I was wrong. The level is large and detailed, with lots of nice new textures. It feels authentically old-fashioned, but it is tastefully done. I dug the Atari Jaguar reference. Gameplay is solid, action-packed; it's let down by wandery layout, endless sewers, unsatisfying final battle (build-up is good though). The lava near the beginning is surprisingly painless.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is playing on your TV set! Good film. This WAD was better.

Holy shit. Beats a large percentage of modern maps.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
