About This File

DTH1 is the first Level of the Episode Doomed to Hell. There isn't any Story, well you're Doomed to Hell, don't ask me why. [Note by the uploader: this WAD has been released in at least two versions. In this package i include the older version and it's Text file in the zipfile: 07_16_94.zip.]

I agree, although I give it zero stars. In five minutes of play I had to use IDCLIP three times, because it very easy to get stuck, indeed one part of the map is a sort of guessing game whereby if you choose the wrong path you are shafted. It irritates me that the author had the gumption to include custom sounds, but didn't know how to align the textures of teleport pads. As I look at the sky I am bewitched by its particular shade of grey blue. It haunts me.

A marble map with simple architecture, and some very poor gameplay. The authors have tried to steer the player along a set, complex progression. However, this includes the need to find three well hidden secrets, or you're bound to get trapped. Not only that -- even if you do find these, it is still possible to get trapped in at least 3 places. This of course almost cripples the map completely. Gameplay is otherwise unspectacular -- there's a stupid Mastermind fight, and an okay showdown at the end. --1/5

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
