About This File

Doom2 SP wad containing 3 SP maps by the above authors. The project originally started out as a "retro" mapping project, i.e. for a large group of quake mappers to each make a doom map and then combine them to a megawad. Sadly after the initial enthusiasm of dozens of mappers only 3 people actually came up with a map and the result is this wad. Rather than letting the project die or waiting forever, we decided to release it anyway.

The result is 3 very different maps:

map01 - by Aardappel, Doom2 style outside affair meant to be played with the chainsaw only map02 - "Hell's Bunker" by Biff Debris, detailed and textured exclusively in q2 textures map03 - by Lunaran, Doom1 style intense combat, with puzzles & surprises

e1m1 : Awesome unique map for using the chainsaw most of the time. There are some infights between lower marines and imps which can be used. Also one hidden knight to cut!. The pistol has some ammo too but enjoy the chainsaw all the way plz =) e1m2 : quakish map. normal gameplay. nothing special except the textures. e1m3 : large tech base. Wow that archvile surprised me!. Overall Good and Balanced level set IMO. Gets a 3.9 ahhhhrrrrrggggggg 4/5 =)=)

Map 1 and 2 are average a bit, nice looking, but too simple and not too interesting. Map 3 is cool, tho. Entire thing isn't too though, can be done rambo style. Play if you have few minutes to waste -- Brun Ohn

I really like these maps. Aard's is rather average, Biff's is nice looking but boring as hell, Lun's map is the best of 3 and sports a nice theme. Highly recomended. -N

3 unique and great maps, each well-designed and well-detailed in their author's individual style. MAP01 is a short rock and brick map with easy enemies. MAP02 is a short metal base made with Q2 textures which looks absolutely great. MAP03 is a longer silvery base which is excellently planned and non-linear. The gameplay is not hard but is fun. Definitely recommended. 5/5

This is a wad with 3 maps by 3 different authors which is very apparent when you play it. The maps differ in looks and gameplay. Map 01 is interesting because you only have a shotgun and a chainsaw in a large outdoor. Map 02 is decorated with Quake textures but a bit monotone looking and gameplay is not too challenging. Map 03 is a quite normal Doom map, well done but nothing special. You can play this, but don't expect the reinvention of Doom :-) 3/5 -Milian

Superb firework display of thousands of fireballs seeming in slow motion because of the vastness - mostly avoidable as they land where you were ages ago; but worth playing just to see it. A HUGE square surrounded by tiers with hundreds of imps and a few others, plus a blockhouse you can enter first to collect ammo.  Fighting through the hundreds of monsters when you get onto the tiers is another matter, overwhelming at UV. I cheated to finish so at least I could review.  Some HOM bugs.

Laggy hell with 32k monsters and too much invulnerability spheres. Just... total vomit.

Insanity, with voodoo dolls (see second screenshot).  I get the idea of a shooting gallery if that rocks your boat, but 6000 monsters behind railings- as far as the eye can see, FFS! My PC crawled when I looked towards the invuln spheres (someone said 32 k of them and you can't avoid picking up thousands at a time). In the end I cheated with god mode and no-clipping, and waded in among the chaingunners until I got bored.

Simple, clearly a first wad.  All on the flat with big, brightly lit, and architecturally implausible rooms. The first map has two rooms, the second map one, and the third map one plus a kind of exit lobby. You can do one of two things - just run past the monsters and finish (I did it in 35 seconds), or have a bit of fun killing the monsters first. No noticable bugs. I hope the author will go on (or went on) to greater things.
