About This File

This is my second shot at a doom level. I used Doom Editor (the real thing) v2.60b4. My first was not worth showing, but I like the area "outside" in this one. Very hard to finish on level 4, but it can be done.

Not a BAD map for 1994 vintage since a dos based editor like the original DoomEd must've been difficult to work with, with no or little graphical representation of the level aligning textures must've been time consuming, However I could be wrong. All in all an average 1994 level.

Heads up: this one crashed Chocolate Doom: it segfault'd on the winding staircase, while in R_DrawMaskedColumn() . Plays fine in PrBoom.

Most of this one falls pretty firmly within the "awful" category. There is one section I did like, the outdoor catwalk with monsters on pillars. The start is made a little tougher by forcing you to go through some harmful ooze if you want to get 100% kills (or if you don't know the right way to go), the rest of the map is easy and straight-forward. Health and ammo was nicely balanced. The overall impression is still not good enough to warrant a higher grade than... --1/5

As the man says, although I give it two stars because it didn't anger me. Perhaps I am in a pleasant mood. I have just had tea. It's a typical mid-1994 wad, shambolic and odd and not very well made. There's an invulnerability sphere right near the exit, for example, but the "final battle" involves half a dozen imps and sergeants. Robert Plant's solo career, eh? Hasn't really taken off.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
