About This File

Explore this small but potent array of terror with your opponent(s) until you've seen all the RED you want to see!

RED for Deathmatch!

I personally would like to Welcome you to my second in a slew of customized PWAD files created for use with the Registered Version of ID's virtual reality game DOOM. In RED after you shake off the highly disorienting effect of the entry tunnel, you'll have plenty to do to finish off the utter nightmare of RED, then you'll have only a moment to breathe as you begin counting up your frags. This small but very deadly mirror image map will insure visions of RED! This map (E1L1) is recommended for use in Deathmatch only, even though it can be accomplished solo, it's not very challenging.

Have Fun,

Vance Andrew Blevins

A very small, symmetric map with cramped, intense fighting. Too complex for a fast and fun DM, but works surprisingly well in SP, once you get past the stupid start. The red texture theme gives the map a unique feel. Many narrow ledges and lifts; hard to navigate with monsters ambushing you from all directions. A well-placed Cyberdemon can cause trouble if you're careless. Way too much ammo, health and powerups for this type of map, though. Guess where the exit is? ;-) A rather good little diversion. --3/5

Starts with all monsters with their backs to you, and you might as well leave it that way and just listen to the music. One big rectangular room with no finish switch. They couldn't even make the rectangle properly - freehand I guess. Kill the monsters if you want, it's easy.

Superb firework display of thousands of fireballs seeming in slow motion because of the vastness - mostly avoidable as they land where you were ages ago; but worth playing just to see it. A HUGE square surrounded by tiers with hundreds of imps and a few others, plus a blockhouse you can enter first to collect ammo.  Fighting through the hundreds of monsters when you get onto the tiers is another matter, overwhelming at UV. I cheated to finish so at least I could review.  Some HOM bugs.

Laggy hell with 32k monsters and too much invulnerability spheres. Just... total vomit.

Insanity, with voodoo dolls (see second screenshot).  I get the idea of a shooting gallery if that rocks your boat, but 6000 monsters behind railings- as far as the eye can see, FFS! My PC crawled when I looked towards the invuln spheres (someone said 32 k of them and you can't avoid picking up thousands at a time). In the end I cheated with god mode and no-clipping, and waded in among the chaingunners until I got bored.
