It's a wad made in a very consistent, sort of 'back to the basics' style. Not everyone will enjoy the simplistic map designs (they are definitely not up to par with what you'd expect from a 2005 wad), but the gameplay is lots of fun. The maps have some great fights and item placement is usually well thought out. The /newstuff review is indeed groundless. 2/5 for the design, 4/5 for the gameplay. 3/5 - Belial

I'm actually really enjoying this wad. Although I feel it's meant for skilled doomers I find you don't have to think much to survive, which I have really enjoyed. I also think it's a nice touch to have reused areas. It's obvious, however, that the author didn't focus much on presentation, which becomes even more apparent later on. It also becomes apparent that the gameplay is oversimplified. After a few levels the wad is likely to get dull as a consequence. --- 3 Stars.

This has been grossly maligned for reasons that aren't apparent. It's perfectly OK.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. The level design is admittedly average, with the texture work being the weakest link. The actual structures of the levels are great, and it seems as though the levels were based on real locations. The replacement music and sounds are the best part. The monsters sound more like wild beasts. Some of the music selections suit the atmosphere of the levels perfectly. 3/5 stars.

This really isn't any good at all. OK it's big and plentiful but it's such predicatble copy + paste mapping as to be completely boring. - pritch

I give this 1 star. I can under stand if this is a first-time wad, but to be honest, there was no catchy architecture, and the gameplay ain't that great - Kirby

Old fashioned and sometimes not much to look at (tho its appearance improves considerably after the first map), but decent enough gameplay. Some areas that seem easy can kill you quick. Map16 was my fave (watch your back).

Hmm. It got a pasting in the newstuff; the levels are much too large and diffuse and the author keeps using the same tricks over and over and over again (toilets! light switches! a room filled with computer banks that have doors in the ends!). If anything the wad is damned by excess; if it was smaller and there was less of it, it would be quite good.

This one kind of garbagy, 1.5/5, but the author has since improved with smallde1.zip, so don't miss that!

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.
