About This File

A conglomeration of things learnt using DEU and DCK. This has been a lesson in learning. From getting DCK not to add in the infernal lower sidedefs when I didn't want them, to getting the guy out during testing. This is not easy!. It requires quick movements, but the tricks are all fairly easy. It was really a test to see if I could get some nice looking arenas planned. Still, there is no fancy story, and no background. You've just been transported into The Cage. Get out, get the keys, and fight through the tunnel to get to the next level.

This is from December 1994. The player starts off in an enclosed space with walkways over inescapable lava pits, surrounded by monsters and with those bloody lost souls zooming around. It's one of those things whereby you have to learn a certain sequence of things by trial and error. It's extraordinarily frustrating and I hate that kind of gameplay. And now I'm in a bad mood and that angers me.

Hard to get out of the cage and then not much to see.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
