The map feels interesting, fresh and new in the beginning, with you feeling like a part of a grand army assault under oppressive enemy fire. Unfortunately it's not long before your comrades are all dead, you find yourself all alone against an entire army, and tedium sets in. The map is RIDICULOUSLY difficult; I'm not kidding when I say you're likely to die every few seconds and need to reload over and over and over again (especially due to these damn machine-gun emplacements), which ceases to be fun real quick.

I know I probably said it hundreds of times, but a great wad has both a great premise and great gameplay. the idea to make a D-Day-inspired level is pretty great, storm a beach, plant charges to get through barbed wire, then continue on solo. so that's basically what the level is about. the game gives you a railgun early, and it's truly a necessity since the hitscan snipers are by far and wide with each step up onto the beach. the steps through the trenches can get tense, as well as when you finally hit the compound and all, nice claustrophobic action. getting a Thompson and using it actually makes the going a lot smoother.

so what actually makes this not as good as expected is the entire minefield part. the mines are one thing (they can be shot at least) however the one thing that really sucks are those fucking respawning turrets, who won't stop spawning until you cross a certain line. they are strong and broken in how they operate too, a major problem and they even appear later on. I would say this entire part single-handedly ruined the whole level too, even though the rest is exciting, but having to hug the closest wall and rush through while picking off numerous mines and avoiding annoying turrets was the one thing that really screwed this level up.

It's like an additional level for BPGA Missions: Liberation, except this came out before the aforementioned project. On UV the difficulty is insane, and since I had just beaten BPGA I just IDDQD'd and ran through this. I liked the trenches and the level layout as a whole was pretty cool and really felt like I was storming a beachhead. Pretty awesome. 4/5.

This was really boring. I'm giving it a decent score because of the amount of work involved, but if I was not feeling so generous I'd give it a 0/5.

Awesome wad, even though the beginning is a tad difficult (get hit too many times getting off the boat, and marines in the way)

Did the newstuff reviewer even try to use -nogl mode? That made this wad run on my laptop, although rather messily. I find this wad to be a breath of fresh air and I'm glad to see it in idgames archives. 5 stars!

This gets a 5 for the effort alone. It's a little on the hard side but enjoyable. It's also important to see exactly how far Doom editing has come. There are all sorts of cool and interactive stuff going on in the level and it's every Doomer's obligation to check this one out.

The beach is cool (nice test for friendly monster combo). Other than that, it's a good Normandy challenge. ~3/5

New graphics aren't that great, and it's largely too hard.

This is Zdoom's best wad of all time, with the exception of Xaser's Zen Dynamics and many Nanami & LWM works. These kinds of wads/levels demonstrate the true quality of solo modding and some great success over team modding. 5 stars all the way.

This map is quite impossible. I know it is the Invasion of Normandy scenario, but it was fucking hard. I would say this fits the bill. I only thing I hate is that there is propaganda promoting the bad guys against the good oppressors. I thought I was the rebel. Killing children? Omg! ~4/5

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
