- SLOT 1 -
1. Martial Arts (replaces Fist)
Description: In his time away, the stranger has been keeping in shape. Unlike the Doom guy's constant left-handed suckerpunching, this guy has some strategy in place - a five-hit punching combo. Each progressive blow is more powerful, but once the combo is finished, there's a short cooldown period - so pick your targets wisely and make sure you have room to back off.
Primary: Punch combo. Semi-automatic, average damage.
Secondary: Shockwave Kick. A single-shot crescent kick that knocks all enemies in the vicinity away from you and deals great damage to one enemy - but it saps your energy in the process.
Inspiration: Cold Hard Cash. And the countless anime that have had martial arts fight scenes. If you look at the tip of the boot in the alt-fire, it has a blade on the tip of it - inspired by the one Vash has hidden in his boot in "Trigun" (which can be seen in episode 3, among others).
2. Throwing Knives (replaces Chainsaw)
Description: "If you hide your strikes, you will more likely strike his hide." --The Sphinx
Primary: Heaves a steel blade at high velocity towards a single target. You can pick up the knives after they've impacted. Be careful not to throw it somewhere that you can't get it again.
Secondary: Slashes with the knife as a melee attack. Less damage than the thrown knife, but handy in a pinch and silent too.
Inspiration: Chloe's throwing knives from the anime "Noir."
- SLOT 2 -
1. Luger Parabellum (replaces Pistol)
Description: The primary sidearm of the German army during World War II, this elegant firearm is still sought after by those who like a sense of style in their handguns.
Primary: Fires a single, accurate 9mm round. More powerful than Doom's pistol.
Inspiration: I found it in my resources directory and thought it'd be a cool starting weapon.
2. Auto-Pistol (dropped on occasion by Zombiemen)
Description: An absurdly fast little pocket pistol that goes through ammo like a drunk goes through a shot of booze. It sports some pretty shoddy workmanship, though - there's a decent chance that the gun will jam upon firing.
Primary: Unleashes a torrent of 9mm rounds at breakneck speeds. Incredibly inaccurate and a little weak compared to the Luger.
Secondary: Unjams/reloads the gun.
Inspiration: The high-velocity Micro Uzi seen in the anime movie "Ghost in the Shell."
- SLOT 3 -
1. Black Revolver - "Cain" (dropped on occasion by Shotgunners)
Description: Originally the stranger's own sidearm, before Baphomet took it from him. Now mass-produced and bastardized for use by Baphomet's legions.
Primary: Fires a single, very powerful Magnum round.
Inspiration: One of the two revolvers from the anime "Trigun."
2. Dual Revolvers - "Cain and Abel" (part of the BFG pickup)
Description: The original two revolvers given to the stranger by Baphomet as a gift. The same two revolvers that were used in the stranger's attempt to destroy Baphomet. Now stored by Baphomet for safe-keeping.
Primary: Fires both revolvers at once.
Inspiration: The two guns from "Trigun" - Vash is seen carrying both revolvers at the end of the episode "Rem Saverem."
- SLOT 4 -
1. Personal Defense Shotgun (replaces Shotgun)
Description: Two shots and a slow reload, but a pretty tight spread and decent power. Comes in a compact casing that can be comfortably carried in one hand.
Primary: Fires one of two shells.
Inspiration: Original idea
2. Power Shotgun (replaces Super Shotgun)
Description: A sawed-off anti-armor shotgun with muzzle velocity so powerful that it can push a Baron back about 12 feet at point-blank range.
Primary: Blasts off two shells at once.
Inspiration: The shotgun used by a gang member in the first scene of "Trigun" episode 1.
- SLOT 5 -
1. Assault Rifle (dropped on occasion by Chaingunners)
Description: A bullpup-style assault rifle that packs a nice punch and a controlled fire rate.
Primary: Goes full-auto.
Inspiration: None really
2. Heavy Machine Gun (replaces Chaingun)
Description: A mighty-powerful machine gun with a slow rate of fire and poor accuracy.
Secondary: None. This gun does not need reloading
Inspiration: Heretic's Dragon Claw, but it's probably not obvious
- SLOT 6 -
1. Hand Grenades (part of the single rocket pickup)
Description: Twist to arm, and make like Greg Maddux.
Primary: Arm and throw a bouncy grenade.
Inspiration: Doom 3's grenades.
2. Satchel Charges (part of the rocket box pickup)
Description: For those Bluetooth junkies out there that must have everything hooked up to a remote control.
Primary: Click the detonator. This will detonate ALL armed satchel charges in the level.
Secondary: Throw a satchel charge.
Inspiration: Xaser's pipebombs.
- SLOT 7 -
1. Crossbow (randomly replaces Invisibility)
Description: Snipering, the old-fashioned (and quiet) way.
Primary: Shoots a single arrow straight ahead. Powerful enough to kill an Imp on one shot.
Secondary: Shoots a flaming arrow that does more damage and sets zombies on fire. Costs 2 bolts.
Inspiration: The Fear's crossbow from "Metal Gear Solid 3."
2. Caine Industries "Longshot" Rifle (randomly replaces Invisibility)
Description: A loud, penetrating sniper rifle. Stealth be damned - you're only in it for the targets, after all.
Primary: Fires a penetrating sniper round.
Inspiration: Caine the Longshot's sniper rifle from the anime "Trigun."
- SLOT 8 -
1. Nightow Inc. CTE-4 20mm Cannon (replaces Plasma Gun)
Description: A 20mm cannon that hurls shells at high velocity. Because of the nature of the explosive shell's payload, the explosion only affects a target that it hits directly - there is no splash damage.
Primary: Fires a shell.
Inspiration: I didn't get the idea for this from any anime - however, the name contains a bit of Trigun fanboyism. Nightow Inc. is named for Yashiro Nightow, the creator of Trigun; and CTE stands for "Chapel the Evergreen" - one of the Gung-Ho Guns.
2. Thompson Industries Lance Cannon (dropped by Hell Knights)
Description: Launches a heavy steel lance from one of its three barrels. The lance penetrates through enemies, but it's heavy enough that it doesn't fly straight at all. Upon impacting a hard surface, the lance shatters into several harmless little pieces.
Primary: Launches a lance.
Inspiration: Milly Thompson's stun-gun from the anime "Trigun."
- SLOT 9 -
1. Anti-Tank Rifle (replaces Rocket Launcher)
Description: Fires a recoilless shell that impacts instantaneously with its target - but it's none too accurate and takes a while to load the next shell.
Primary: Fires a shell.
Inspiration: Vash's concealed cannon from the anime "Trigun" (seen in episode 12: "Diablo")
2. A Terrible Secret (part of the BFG pickup)
Description: Little to the knowledge of our protagonist, even the "light" revolver has a darker side. This much is apparent when it's drawn on its own - the gun transforms the stranger's entire right arm into a hellish device of mass destruction.
Primary: Shoots a volley of hellish projectiles to pierce through Baphomet's ranks, at the cost of 10 health per shot.
Inspiration: Vash's "Angel Arm" from the anime "Trigun." To see that in action, see Episode 16: "Fifth Moon."
- SLOT 0: DELETED WEAPONS -
1. Glock 17 semi-automatic handgun (must cheat to obtain this weapon)
Description: Originally the pistol replacement. I gave it the axe because it didn't quite feel stylish enough.
Primary: Fires a single round.
2. Spec-Ops Shotgun (must cheat to obtain this weapon)
Description: Originally the shotgun replacement, and before that, the super shotgun replacement. It just didn't fit in my opinion, and all the attempts at balancing it made it not feel right at all.
Primary: Fires a single shell.
