About This File

This is a localisation patch which changes Doom to use British spellings. It replaces the status bar graphic and changes some of the internal messages using dehacked.

Use british.wad when playing Doom 1 or Final Doom: Plutonia.

Use britd2.wad when playing Doom 2.

Use brittnt.wad When playing Final Doom: TNT:Evilution.

No, sorry but you're wrong. Britain has used the short scale (1 billion = 1000 million) since the 1970s. The long scale (1 billion = 1 million million) has not had widespread official or popular use in Britain for a long time now.

Five stars because it shows the nit pickiness of our lovely british allies. :P Canadians and Americans need not to look at this, unless they want to feel a taste of England. Nice attempt at making Doom look like it came from British developers. ~cson

It's odd. "Badass" is inherently American and just changing ass to arse doesn't work. "Bad" is an Americanism and "badarse" doesn't flow properly. It should be "big arseholes" or "big fuckers". Arse isn't quite the same as ass; there are subtleties. In Britain you can kick someone's arse, and you can kick arse, but you'd rarely describe a thing as being kick-arse.

So, you (fraggle) want to be as prissy and nitpicky as possible and create a british localization patch, but you can't even do it right as described by the reviewers above. I am very dissapointed. Do you even think that even a british doomer is going to play with this loaded up every time?

@reviewer 2: apparently you can use the word "kick-arse" as an englishman (source: id=11804). Anyway, this is one of the most pointless and redundant mods out there. If I really wanted to localize my doom into the britfag version, I would use the blessed engine, that has funny british messages and a good status bar.

Splendid stuff old bean. There are only two things I like about the US, one: they made DOOM, and two: it's 3,000 miles away! Anyway our billion is bigger than theirs. 4/5 -jb

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?
