About This File

After god knows how long with Zdoom, I decided to open my options and try other ports as well. This is my first map for Eternity (v3.33.02), and one of my more fun maps to make.

Cool Eternity map, with cool custom textures. For the most part it plays like a Doom 1 map converted to Doom 2, due to lack of latter's specific monsters for the most part. Neat use of 3dmidtex bridges and platforms, as well as visual portals for nice extra detail.

Recommended gameplay settings:

* z-clipping must be ON (and corrected thing heights likewise)

* terrain effects must be ON

* not designed with jumping in mind

Usually I don't play in anything else than Zdoom, because most other modern ports limit the speed to the original 35fps ;P But I have several ports in my HD and so I decided to try this WAD too. A big level, preety cool details, action,. during the play I was in the lava and IDDQDed but that was my mistake ;). It's preety damn good I think, even if I haven't played it till the very end.. 4/5 - Optimus

Beautiful looking map with a great texture set (where are they from?), which would have benefited from some new music too. There's lots to explore, which can get a bit confusing, and it quite often feels too cramped and overcrowded for my tastes, but it's still a great map and good example of eternity features. 4/5 FP

I must say this is a good looking level and thats why I'm sorry to say I can't finish it. I don't know where the hell to go or what to do next. I have better things to do than dick around looking for the next whatever. 8/20/07

This is really nice! Looks great, plays OK - not so tough, but not a complete walk in the park either. Perhaps the progression isn't completely obvious, and the weird-looking automap doesn't help either.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
