This wad is amazing and enormous, and really hard. It's really fun to play. Hell, even better with Russian Overkill. Killing 20000 hellspawns ain't easy...

In E0M5, there's 19906 monsters, so this wad is really hard!!!

Tedious: The Map. Deus Vult and Sunder are better.

Holy Hell is the poor man's Deus Vult, with fairly little effort made into design but focusing entirely on gameplay. Just imagine if Hell Revealed's levels went off the deep end in length, you've got this. Like Deus Vult, this is technically one big ass map, but due to potential processor problems (at least at the time in 2006) it was split accordingly. This wad pretty much shows the kind of slaughter most players can easily get used to, such as teleporting hordes in specific places as well as a few notorious waves of enemies. Great practice for other slaughtermaps!

For the individual sections of Holy Hell, the MAP01 segment may be the hardest, mostly because of a select amount of hitscanner hordes in places, like the library section with all the chaingunners. MAP02 segment is significantly easier, while MAP03 is actually kinda boring due to a few waiting moments (although watch those pits and the chaingunner horde, the caco wave is awesome). Much of MAP04 is in two separate arenas, and finding the next switch turns fetch-questy, but then again the payoff in hordes tends to be worth it. Save the invulnerabilities!

Holy Hell is more than just fun, it's perfect practice when it comes to slaughterfest levelsets, as it's actually quite easy to beat and can even run on modern laptops well without any framerate issues.

Preety much impossible. And there is not enough ammo or health! I IDDQDed/IDKFAed and had some fun. After I got bored in a while. Was there level 3? I quited in level 2. Funny to see those dead bodies filling the floor though. A small nuts that doesn't crawl as much. 2/5 because of the fun and big work behind it - Optimus

Bah, who give a fuck what Belial thinks of this wad? I just happen to like this one a lot. When I first saw this, I was like: "Finally, a true challenge worthy of my time." But, prehaps IMO, a little too much of a challenge but I love the amounts of monster fights anyway. I can't wait for a ZDoom version.

As one of the developers of AEons of Death, I absolutely love running through this map. I love running through this with nothing but mindless killing, and respawning powerups enabled (for the invulnerability spheres and health/armors/weapon s at the start). If you're a NUTS/Dues Vult/Invasion UAC slaughterfest fan like I am, then I definitely recommend this. -Major Cooke

JK = "just kidding"? Instead of really being split up like Deus Vult, this wad has copies of the full level for each level, closing off the parts not played. This erodes performance and makes the file bigger. Anyone can make a large level with many monsters, but not everyone can make one that's playable. This one isn't. Any wad that demands save games is broken (aside from any bugs such as the one Belial pointed out). [0/5] ~Chain Mail (09/2007)

One major problem with the split-level format is that the author hasn't accounted for pistol starts; levels 2-4 are packed with ammo but no weapons. Deserves some kind of prize for having a nuts.wad-trouncing monster count in a supposedly conventional wad.

Map 5 on UV. Largest WAD I've ever played, comparable only with Deus Vult. Joke or not, this is DOOM exactly how I like it. Thousands of monsters, tons of ammo, and plenty of space to dodge monsters' attacks to save one ass that matters. By the time the first hour of play is over, you start to realize how many 20000 really is :) Gave it 4 only because even for a joke wad, it's too long. To get the most fun from this map, it should be played with infinite ammo pick up, and with fastweapons turned on.

Liking this wad is a guilty pleasure. I just wasted away an entire day of spring break, a day where I could have been playing something more worthwhile. Yet, I do not care. There's something about slaughtering thousands of demons in god mode that is so appealing. 4/5

I'd definitely LOVE to see a re-release that has all the maps 100% beatable from a pistol start while playing on UV. More health is needed, MUCH, MUCH more health. And the ammo minus the weapons definitely wasn't what one would expect. If this is done, the recorders will go APE SHIT over it. Hope it's re-released soon. -ragnew

Warfare scaled slaughter akin to Sunder or a miniature Nuts if you will. Ignore the earlier comments concerning ammo this latest release has enough to ensure 100% kills and every map can be beatable from a pistol start. Although some innovative ideas are introduced such as battles in tightly controlled conditions where you have just enough space to move, it's too mind numbingly boring and spoilted by a lack of creativity. 3/5 - Bloodite Krypto.

I like how people are complaining about the ammo or health ... I didn't have any problems with either, on UV. You must all just suck. Or, you're not the kind to save after every other big fight, like I am. 5*

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
