About This File

Aquatic adventures with lots of islands / boats etc.! This is the first in the SYMO series, set in a nice seascape setting. Nice until Hell stepped in that is. You'd better do something about it then.

Interesting mysterious level where confusing progression only adds to the charm. Like most wads uploaded by Grazza, it shows a unique artistic vision and doesn't remind you of anything else. The map begins with a puzzle that I can't call fair or logical, but what follows is much better. Don't expect any exciting combat here, play it for the adventure aspect only.

Quite amateurish level with too many technical problems, alomst zero ambiance, and remarkably poor gameplay. Has a few potentially nice details, but they haven't been worked-out properly. Overall: 1* for the effort. BTW @ 3 above: giving this map 5* legendary can indeed be described with the word bizar.

I didn't finish this map because I was expecting an outdoor tropical island area with lots of water (maybe even some swimming)... instead all I got were a few dead trees, what could generously be called a creek and an otherwise mostly indoor level. This has nothing to do with the ocean. Gameplay's not bad, but nothing to write home about either.

Appears as if the map maker was trying to plot a murder massacre with just a pistol on some oceanfront beach somewhere, because there are no other weapons in this map whatsoever, & such could be the only explanation for making such a pretty map so senseless.

Some bizarre comments here. You quickly get a shotgun and a chaingun from the enemies, and that is plenty. It's a very creative map with some nice touches (e.g. "submerge" and "down periscope"). Tip: if you want to get the red key quickly, you can grab it (and escape) with an easy strafe jump.

I ran out of ammo long before it got interesting.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
