About This File

A map with a distinct John Romero Doom2 style feel. at least, that's what I was aiming for. It will be difficult for some, but so long as you are vigilant, it shouldn't be too difficult.

It turned out better than I expected as it looks and plays pretty well without going over the top with detail or amount of monsters. I am pretty proud of it!

The author was right. This map does have the feel of the original doom2 to it. The layout is remarkable, the details are just enough and the textures blend very beautifully to deliver this brown stone theme to near perfection. Gameplay is also very well balanced. I've no complaints about this map. 5/5

Great Oldschool feel to it, detail when neccesary, layout based on gameplay. The gameplay is also pretty well thought out, the balance isnt quite perfect but its fine. 4/5

This is dated July 2006. The author's first map in the archive dates from 1996; this is his second map. The ten-year delay must be some kind of record. Despite the gap the levels have a similar feel. This one is good fun to play, with 121 monsters in a kind of large-scale medieval slime castle. As before the design is entertaining, not at all hard, action-packed, ammo-packed, fast-moving, and it has a neat retro style. Good fun especially if you just run through it.

I really liked this wad, great architecture and tough as nails gameplay. Excellent layout. But it was a bit unrealistic because of the windows looking directly out into the sky but with rooms located directly behind. But who cares, its a damn good effort and I want to see more like this from this author. 4/5 -PC

Very good wad, especially for a relative newcomer. Good amounts of height variations and suprising light level depths for a new mapper. Texturing selection is a little wonky in certain places but overall the map flows very well. Look forward to more from this mapper in future releases.

There's nothing wrong with this castle-like map. It's quite short, well-detailed and gameplay is not too hard, but challenging enough (maybe it could be a bit harder, though). Nice, but nothing too special about it. 3.5/5 -Milian

Great wad! Starts simple, but gets progressively more challenging. A little more ammo would be nice. A few nice surprises, esp. the arch vile. The fortress is well crafted and there is a nice sense of progression as you move along.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
