About This File

Map02Mix, is of course, a 'remix' of one of my favorite Doom2 maps, Map02 (obviously). It has a nice 'old-school'-ish feeling to it, so hopefully you'll enjoy that. :D The map was originally started in November of 2005, but I never got around to finishing it, because I didn't like how the map was progressing or something like that. About a month ago, I remembered the wad, so I decided to finish it. It's been finished for a few weeks now, but I just wanted to make sure there were no bugs. Also, when I started this, this was the best I could do.

Not much more than a slicker-looking replica of the original with a couple of hell knights thrown in for funsies. It also feels slightly more compact in certain areas, which does create for at least a slight change in gameplay, though not much. On the downside, there's a good stretch after grabbing the RK that one has to backtrack with very little to keep the player occupied. 5/10 - Snakes

Map02 has a special place in my heart. It's usually the level that pops up after I hit the exit switch in a custom map, and I often find myself playing through it just to relax. Those three zombiemen standing across the stream of water are burned in my mind. This recreation is good fun, although I missed the stuck sergeant near the beginning, and the other one later on. It gets an extra mark for actually being on level two (if you see what I mean).

Sweet map I like this one just slightly better than map03 mix but both are worth the download. This was great fun it really gave me the underhalls feeling when playing 4/5.

Unnecessary details everywhere. The mapper tried too hard to make nonrepetitive design. 3/5

Nice map02 remake. There should be a way to go back to the beginning after you fall into the pit. I had to IDCLIP to find the rest of the secrets that I forgot to search for. Also an EXIT gfx in the end would be better just so I know. Hopefully I saved before pressing it.. (I sometimes want to find 100% secrets before I exit ;) 4/5 - Optimus

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
