"Release date: I don't remember"... You made it on August 05, 2006. At least, you sent it to me at that date. You was making the second map. Then... Nothing! I vote 5* to compensate, because this map deserve to have 3* The design is well done, the playability is correct. Simple, efficient for a first map and, more importantly, for a 1024 map !!!

Maybe, it's already a bad sign when you're thinking you've played this map before while you're knowing for sure that you haven't. The fights are so simple that you don't even care that most of the time you're limited to your pistol. Detail is non-existant and the layout is blocky and primitive. The only interesting scene is the final battle, when suddenly you're confronted with a Baron of Hell in a narrow room and your shotgun only. Meh. 1.5/5 -Milian

I forgot you need zdoom to play this wad because of one place with texture&flat mixing!

Bland and boring, not really worth playing, but just manages to miss the "this sucks" category IMO. 2/5

This is a cute little map that doesn't take long to play. The design is clean and simple. For most players it will be too simple; apart from a Baron of Hell the toughest monsters are imps. The ammo is measured precisely so that you get a bunch of shells just before a fight, and as a consequence it seems a little child-like. It could be improved by giving the player the berzerk pack and nothing else, but even then it wouldn't be too tricky.

its ok: grey themed, needs a better monster variation, not for prdoom 2.5/5 off topic - ah - I think that the above reviewer made a lot of reviews in the recent past which are quite good - you should do some as a guest reviewer for doomworld - just my thoughts

Monster placement is predictable and light. The layout is clean and simple with no surprises and is fairly short. Pleasant but quick and a little too easy. 3/5 -jb

It's the worst 1024 map I've ever seen.

Simple but solid stuff. Lots of pistol work with formes. Little flaw: Too short.

In case you're wondering who James Collins is, he is best known by his username, an_mutt. (Or maybe he is the front and opposable thumbs for his dog who does the actual mapping.)    Recurring Nightmare has good craftsmanship -- not just "for a speedmap" either. It felt like a low-detail Mechadon map: the offbeat angular geometry is there, as is the architecture that wraps and overlaps, all dressed in synergistic combos of stock textures. Gameplay is short and sharp, 50 monsters, generally a handful at a time, in smart choreographed traps that pin you in tight spaces with weapons just about good enough. It is harsh and to the point.    One clear misstep is the cleaned-up automap. [:^) Kappa :smiley_cat: etc.]

Yukio Ide was always a kind of interesting oddball to me, he made these weird maps filled with sound clips and low res anime pics from 90s bbs(mostly evangelion and Ah! My Godness! over some other unknown anime), but it have always some sort of "happy-go-lucky" that is unusual in a game like doom. Oh, and lots of crosses in the maps. But overall, his maps are enjoyable to me, for some reason. And this "love wad" to his waifu Belldandy is no expection! Level is short, colorful and have a way too happy music in it, overall is not that bad, but neither a great, amazing wad. Things like the million secrets (included in some rooms that aren't that secret, 2 secret rooms are behind a normal door! WTF?) in the map, the pretty bland looking map, that strange audio clip for the pistol shot (yes, the pistol have this audio clip almost unheareable phrase taken from the Ah! My Godness! anime that is just... weird and plain irritating, and the sound compression made it sound like gibberish) and the "love wad" affair, like other reviewers behind my time, is a strange thing to show your love with a wad where you kill people... Is like if i do a wad called "I love you Yohane" and make a slaughtermap filled with low res pictures of mai waifu for giving me courage or whatever, is just a weird and even kind of creepy thing to do. But the status bar graphics is pretty nice imo! I could even take it and change the colors of writing from pink to a more reddish tint... Is cool to have a japanese written status bar at your side, i think.

Short map (maybe one of his first?) made by Impie, the Robocop Doom and many other combos you have played in these years, including that wad based upon Lovercraftian universe (i don't remember the name now), this a short affair sets in this rocky canyon with some hellish sections. Texturing reminds me of TNT. Layout is pretty and there's some minor, very simple "speedrunning" trickery you have to do for passing trough the map, difficulty is not hard but takes you to the edge. Not bad.

From the same author of my previously played map "Gorilla Gore", another short and fun little map, less squarish than that other map and much funnier to play, i liked it. Also really enjoyed that handrail texture.
