About This File

A hellish mid 90s classic style level in the style of The Spirit World and Gate to Limbo. Quite challenging.

There's not much to say about this map. It's small with only about 50 monsters. Gameplay is ok, with an avarage challenge. The looks are ok, too, though not mind-blowing. It's not a bad map, but nothing special either. 3/5 -Milian

Love these small compact levels... also love watching those stupid hell-spawn bastards fight amongst themselves, which is essential to win this tough level. 4/5

I give it two, because the action is hectic. But I suspect that any random handful of square rooms with the same amount and type of monsters would be just as hectic. The design is crude and old-fashioned, and I am skeptical of the author's claim that this is deliberate. It's small and simple, with very little ammo, which means you have to run around the edges of the main room so that the monsters attack each other. Compared to some of the 1024 maps that were uploaded this week it reeks.

Good classic-style map. Just please make secret door linedefs look like normal walls on automap. 4/5

The start is quite a challenging battle, though things get too easy when you find the first secret which contains a powerful weapon. ***

Great intimidating and fun map. Also I don't agree that this map is too small or under-detailed: 5 minutes for a map is good length. If this was a megawad then 5 x 30 would make a 2.5 hr game, which would be longer than many of the commercial retro games. Visually, I thought it looked great - not overdone as in many other maps.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
