When I played this, I was tense, and I thank the awesome music for that. The music and the lack of the nmber of enemies (on easy) made me jump so many times. It's actualy a pretty scary game if you're in the right mind. And this was done with levels that had blue skies if you know what I mean. Story could have used more journal entries for more depth. It could have used more variety in types of areas. On the map it looked like I would eventually be exploring a volcano, but it was something else.Inspring

A Doom masterpiece. Definitely takes you back to the era of point-and-click adventure games, but this time it's not point-and-click; it's in first person. 5/5 stars.

Even though I may not be patient enough for a wad like this, I did try to get as far as I could. I kept playing for days to find out how to beat it even with the walkthough, which was no help at all because it only loosely described things. It kind of reminds of those old video games where there is no possible way to beat it. Besides, the endings I hear about would destroy any feeling of accomplishment.

Pretty good, I think the idea is worthwhile and your implementation was mostly excellent. Unfortunately I encountered a bug in the GLOAM map where all the ambient sounds start playing simulanteously at full volume; it disappears when you leave the map, but persists when you return to the map, or even restore from a save point if you made the mistake of saving when the ambient sound problem occurs. Restarting and playing with options menu didn't help.

Painful painful painful. Clearly a lot of effort and innovation has gone into this wad, but those two things do not a fun time make. The gameplay is boring as all hell, and the combat is an exercise in frustration with no supplies to back you up. I realise it's not Doom, but that's not an excuse to make a dull boring "Guess the next gimmick to advance" fest.

This is just a fucking hunk of unplayable crap. This was not made in Doom spirit. Doom is a FPS, is not a fucking RPG. 0/5

The Myst of Doom WADs. Whether you consider this a good or bad thing is up to taste. You have to admire it for what it achieves, though.

Legendary. Just like this vote. Everyone who gives it lower than a 3 problably doesn't know the difference between a good and a bad wad. - T.U.A

"First off, this mod isn't doom. So don't expect it to play like doom." 4/5 for the wad and +1 star for the downvoting by that guy. :)

This is definitely not doom, however this doesn't mean that this wad is 'bad'. With its unique theme, great scripting, and compelling gameplay, I highly recommend playing this wad so you may find out yourself.

The wad is pretty darn good, but if there were any needed changes, i'd say it needs new music. What is up with the dark, creepy music anyway? tropical islands aren't supposed to be dark and scary! Besides that, once you consume 5 hours of your life playing it, the ending is lame. But all in all, a very good wad. 4/5 Oh, and F.Y.I. to the guy who said the rock formations need more slopes: You can't put slopes over water in GZdoom for some reason.

huge non linear gameplay, with lots of puzzles, had great fun wandering and exploring the world in this game.

Beautiful WAD...simply beautiful. It's one of the most attractive Doom WADs I've ever seen, and the use of ambient sounds instead of music really amps up the atmosphere. However, it's really just "beauty over brains." The gameplay is ridiculously confusing, and I found myself lost not even half-way through. There's no...linear structure to the gameplay; it just feels like a jumbled mess. So, you really feel like you're just wandering around, hoping to get lucky. 2/5

I enjoyed this. It reminded me of the old dinosaur game Trespasser, or the first Tomb Raider game, or Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine, or one of those old graphic text adventures. I can envisage an alternative world where someone licensed the Doom engine in 1994 and made this instead of (for example) Chex Quest. It's a bit slow-paced although in the light of Hellcore 2.0 it doesn't seem so bad in this respect. Someone hire this man now.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
