About This File

First off, I would like to state one... statement. This is NOT a jokewad.

Yes, the levels are not exactly the most serious. Yes, some detailing looks like it's been done by a two-year old. However, if someone asks if this is the newest successor to the SHiTWADS regime, the answer is a firm NO.

TurboCharged ARCADE! is not intended to be screwy, but to be different. An experimental wad by nature, TcA focuses on putting the player in odd situations, which require different techniques and ideas to beat them. It's sort of a throwback to the old days of arcade games, with short, sharp levels and a bit of freedom to choose whichever type of level suits your fancy.

In TcA, you can take a journey to foreign hellish landscapes, dive across rooftops whilst dodging bullets in slow motion, escape from insanely overpopulated prisons, and face off against the devilish Adolf Hitler in a showdown for the ages... all in whatever sequence you desire!

A core aspect to the gameplay in TurboCharged ARCADE! is the fact that the entire game's speed has been doubled. Enemies attack twice as fast, weapons are souped-up and speedy, and you'll be running for your life at top-speed in almost every situation. The action is non-stop, and the increased speed will test the reflexes of even the most hyperactive individuals.

TcA's intentions don't stop there, either... on top of the wild-and-crazy gameplay aspects, this wad is also intended to be funny as all hell. With all sorts of ridiculous situations, overly-retarded parodies, and over-the-top randomness, I'm hoping that everyone will have to stop playing at least once because they're laughing too damn hard to keep themselves alive. :P

However... as you may have noticed, this release is only a very tiny 8-level demo release of TcA. What, you may ask, will the full version offer? Imagine, obscene amounts of levels with incredibly varied styles of gameplay and difficulty. Sporting a new interactive level-selection system and hours upon hours of random gameplay, TcA will feature just about everything but the kitchen sink!

Anyway, enough with the salesman-type advertising... This guy may not be finished for a LONG time, but in the mean time, stay tuned at the ZDoom forums, as I'm pretty sure that the full version will feature a whole slew of levels from all over the community... as I simply can't crank out all of them on my own. :P

In the meantime, download and enjoy this small sample of things to come. Have fun, doggamnit! :P

Made by one of the most insane DOOMer ever, Xaser, this jokewad shows us the pinnacle of his insanity and creativity. Sure, the jokes are a bit low-brow, and mandatory deaths can be sorta annoying, but at least it's still far better than any Terrywads out there (which feature pretty more or less similar things). Definitely a must-play.

the last two levels are great but I really don't like the rest of this. feels like one of the maps (the Sherlock one) is broken as well.

Unfortuantely, a "computer crash" should be filed under your bug list in MAP08. Oh, and I believe MAP08 "broke" on me to, preventing me to continue. 3/5

The best wad in the history of time and space has been created, the rest of you guys can stop now. The only flaw was that it was a bit too easy, and the Hitler kept going out of the wall in the final battle, I had to edit the script to make it possible to beat him. The only wad to give me sexual satisfaction beyond anything I've ever played. Infinite/5.

Hasn't anybody realised that dying at the end of every map without consent is just like what terry does in his maps? The jokes are pitifully poor and running gags are just about as bad as breaking the fourth wall (which this wad also does).

Nice mini episode, reminds me of some sort of amateurish Plutonia Experiment sometimes. Pretty enjoyable!

A very decent challenge. Took me about half a dozen attempts to crack it on UV. The wad is from 2015, but could just as well have been from around 1997. Solid, traditional classic Dooming.

The visual level design here is mostly similar to Plutonia and its unofficial sequels PL2 and PRCP. But it is by no means a gameplay part, since for example the gameplay in the first maps revolves around ammo shortage with not so much opposition (although it was tight in places, I admit), while the latter maps are somewhat reminiscent of slaughterwads with a bunch of ammunition and opponents.   The same applies to the size of the maps - the first ones can be completed in 6-7 minutes, while the last ones takes 15-20 minutes to complete. Although this could be explained by a kind of progress, despite the fact that even MAP12 (the first map in wad) is not a walk in the park.   I am not opposed to forced pistol-start (maybe even for), but usually if the levels should be completed in this way, they should be better balanced, as the ability to store things from previous levels is discarded.
And again, I repeat as previous speakers - perhaps some arch-viles were even superfluous. This is especially noticeable when you go through the same room several times.

Mostly enjoyable set in vein of "Plutonia but harder" and with larger fights. Visuals are often minimalistic, with combat being the focus of making the maps interesting. Expect plenty of Viles to resurrect what you kill and forced pistol starts on every map. 3/5

Pretty nice map, some parts are been a little rushed out like the columns texture alignment, but overall the structure and the layout is pretty cool!
