Recoloured Doom and Doom 2 textures v2

About This File

These textures are all recoloured versions of textures from Doom and Doom 2. They include different coloured lights, golden versions of the SHAWNx and related textures, water and lava falls, and so on.

A few of these textures were included in previous texture packs, but most of them have since been improved. They generally still have the same name, so you should be able to simply copy 'n' paste on top of the older versions.

For the sake of completeness, I've also included all the original Doom 1 textures. Some of these have been 'improved', as have a few Doom 2 textures (such as CRATx, DOORSTOP, and SUPPORT2).

Version 2 adds an additional 250 or so new textures (including several specifically intended for use in CTF maps), a couple of dozen new flats, and modifications to several textures from v1.

Much effort has been put into making certain v1 textures bear a greater resemblance to the stock Doom (2) textures; for example, the red marble textures are now a closer match for SP_HOT.

A word of warning: don't try adding new textures to this wad via WinTex. WinTex is incapable of handling more than a certain number of texture entries, and will corrupt the TEXTURE1 and PNAMES lump if you add even one more to this particular wad. You'll need to use another utility - such as SLumpEd, XWE, or DeePSea - instead.

To the reviewer above me, get one of the following programs: WinTex, XWE, SlumpEd. Get this, its possible to see the textures without a demo level. Didn't see that one coming, did you? As far as the textures themselves, as stated they are all just simple recolors, and its a good mix of "Hey that looks useful" and "ew". But there is some stuff in here that is worth looking at, as some of it makes the 13 year old textures look a little more "fresh". 3.5, rounded gives **** - MasterOFDeath

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.

A basic and nice looking showroom type of map where monsters are trapped inside glass prisons, no exit and no way to play this with any modern source Port like DSDA-Doom and GZDoom, but works really well in Crispy Doom. It was a pleasant experience.

Conceptually not bad, it's a pretty imposing tower with some decent lighting, but no ammo at all despite having the guns and a VERY obscure way to rise up the floor in the lava pit? That's a big downer. But overall, it's ok.

Well, the map is pretty basic. The map is quite challenging, with there being 0 ammo pickups (excluding the backpack) outside of the starting room. There are also nazis for some reason. I will give it 2 stars only because this really wasn't meant to be played to be enjoyed, but rather just a example of how to build a map in DEU.
