Summer Deep

A short set of maps by the author of the excellent Alkylation. These are not quite as ambitious, but still imaginative and with plenty of quality action. Be prepared in particular for some close-quarters encounters with Revenants, Mancubuses and Barons in tight corridors or confined spaces. There's also a custom designed boss at the end which takes a bit of seeing off....

A slight oddity of this wad is the inclusion of mini-levels with just a handful of monsters. The last of these, the 'Postludium', takes place after the boss encounters, and requires you to defeat a Cyberdemon in order to get back to your spaceship. There don't appear to be any ammo or weapons around, so pistol starts are out of the question and you'll be dependent on carryovers from the previous level - make sure to have a good scavenge around before leaving it.

Played on UV, continuous, GZDoom.

Looks good, real good, but the gameplay isn't very exciting. Some of the ammo placement (particularly cells before plasma gun) is just plain wrong. I'd like to give this a higher score, but I can't. 3/5

I like it. There were some cramped rooms and some moster placement was little bit annoying, but I liked the desing, cutscenes and many other stuff. Especially lot of nice ideas in The Flesh Factory made it unforgottable for me. 4,5/5 Damned

This is a nice mapset. The levels are generally well designed, though there are a few places where they seem a bit more cramped than need be. Monster/item placement is okay, though some items are in slightly annoying places, placed too tightly up against walls and corners. Nice use of unobtrusive and brief scripted cutscenes. 4/5 FP

Very nice. 4/5. But how the hell do I get passed the first level; I can't get passed the BFG trap. x.x

Some nice clean cut wads that are pretty fun. Good detail making it fun to look around. Lots of ammo I think but better than not enough. I think this should of got map of the month but who cares. 5/15/07

Pretty impressive, I liked it quite a lot. There were some small flaws, but they were forgivable, it's pretty much what everyone else has said at this point. - Ultimate

I liked this mapset. Excellent level design but the monster placement was kind of annoying. There seems to be an excessive amount of archviles, but maybe thats just me.

Very nice, though sometimes the gameplay got old. Good movies and boss battles.

Good maps, most of them ended up in Skulltag later on (as in, 2004-2005 lol). A solid wad that frankly deserves more play time, even in the year 2021.

this really deserves much more attention than it gets! it definitely has its fair share of negatives like cryptic progression, symmetry, etc, but for the time it's actually very good. the visuals are very nice with interesting architecture and good lighting, and despite not being balanced for pistol start very well the combat is great fun nonetheless.

it's like if the casali brothers got their hands on skillsaw's kamikaze soldiers   srsly tho, for 1995 this wad is pretty vicious. the moeller brothers love to throw some real nasty shit at you on the regular, but despite that it still remains very fun (albeit somewhat frustrating at times). the levels all look decent for 1995, and the spritework for the new enemies and textures is quite good as well. aside from a few specific things (the beginning of map06 for example) there's not really any genuinely bad things about the megawad. if you're a fan of older stuff then i highly recommend this mapset - it's not as refined as later stuff the moellers worked on like memento mori, but it's still great fun.

a very fun mapset that, unfortunately, is plagued by a few bugs. it's mostly fine if you get the fix, but if you're unaware of it then it's gonna prevent you from progressing   it's a shame, because this really is a great mapset. it starts off somewhat standard but quickly becomes quite reminiscent of av's later levels. i highly recommend it if you're into that
