About This File

THis is ultimate doom wad, and it has 5th episode texture pack for doom 1 inside (cheers nightmare), it's a 2-map demo :) replaces two first maps of first episode... enjoy the revisited xenus.

I'd give it 4 stars but to compensate the very low average score I give 5. The weakest point of this wad is the first map which has very plain layout (but I still say that complexity sucks :P). Although some areas may appear crampy I like the style and detail very much. Besides these levels are pretty intuitive (read: no Tomb Raider-like crap) and you always know where to go next. And people who said that this was made with OBLIGE don't know Jack Schitt. - Zalewa

I reviewed this and critiqued it quite a bit before this version was released, trust me, this is GOOD. Stop whining, I've seen this map go through development stages, it's not generated by a map. Every mapper has to start somewhere, if you really don't like it, tell him how to improve. -Infurnus

The main criticism with this mapset is the fact that it WILL NOT play with Boom due to the fact that many ( all ? ) the lifts were not tagged, neither the linedef or the sector. This error also for both prboom 2.4.7 and prboom plus - R_InitTextures : 98 errors. This wad should have been stated as a zdoom wad not boom. As a zdoom wad 4/5.

Personally, this mapsets is nice, but some errors and bugs degree the whole thing. 3/5 Daimon

^I agree! Oblige-esque, but possibly tweaked. Don't listen to music when I play DOOM so no comment there. Maps are technical style and are nothing special but pleasant enough to play. Kept me occupied for half an hour. 3/5

I can't understand peoples beef with this mapset. In no way does this deserve anything less than 4. The flow is nicely organised and you won't get lost despite the large sizes of the maps, the maps themselves are well detailed, the monster count is generally well done. This is a solid mapset, despite all the artificial feel of some areas, and considering the author's progress, from what I've seen, my vote is 5 stars high. -Nmn

What's the matter with you people? There is enough detail and gameplay in this WAD to vote so low. I hate it when releases that observe a good word are treated so badly (but maybe it's just opinions :P). It's good, very good, very well done. I'd normally give it a 4/5 but I vote for 5 just because of the silly votes. (Optimus)

While e1m1 is indeed quite average, e1m2 is a genuine leap ahead in terms of quality. The gameplay may be somewhat undemanding, being limited to UDoom and sg/cg, but it didn't bother me that much, and the looks are downright sexy. The layout is nice as well, though more vertical action would be welcome. Fix the bugs if you want to label it as a Boom map. A slightly generous 4/5 - Belial

I liked these levels and the tune from e1m4 was from Command and Conquer. ;)

OK that's ridiculous. Just because someone said "the maps themselves LOOK like enhanced OBLIGE levels" it doesn't mean that they actually are, can't you people judge for yourselves instead of posting "OH NO OBLIGE?? HOW TERRIBLE!11!!".

Alter if you do something with the feeback I gave you it will turn out nicely, it needs less square rooms gameplay could be alot better as well there were loads of deaf monsters let people work harder trying to complete your maps :p *** - DD

OBJECTION! An Oblige-generated map contains an OBLIGDAT lump and GL nodes for all included maps - xenus15d.wad does not include any of this. Oblige does not use custom textures, and also doesn't align the textures. Even if this was generated with Oblige, and I don't admit that it was, then it would take enough work to put this together that there would be nothing left of the original map afterwards. There is no chance that this ever came from a map generator. As for my review score: 4/5. -weasel

I don't think this wad was made with OBLIGE, but it is not very good in any case. Pretty boring and uninspired. 2/5

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
