About This File

Like any good employee I have installed DB at work and so when I get bored I do a little editing. This little level is a product of boredom at work over the last few months. It's nothing spectacular... at all. It's just a short episode 1 style level, which started out as doodles and ended up as playable.

It was originally intended that this level would only be released on http://www.wadsinprogress.info. A community member on said site made me think twice and here it is uploaded to the archieves. Enjoy! :)

Great details, but a bit confusing. 3/5

Go to your kitchen, take a knife. Make it 100 times bigger. That will make you an artist. Mr Helpyourselfish doesn't make art. You'll miss 700 enemies, 30 new weapons and 300 new things that attack. It get worse: He doesn't even use all of the stock ennemies. And where is the rocket launcher? But wait this is an episode one level...how could I forget that? Not that much health, effective layout, easy if you don't rush.

This map would fit perfectly into the original E1.

It is WAY TO LONG, detail is good for a map that does not use a port. Gameplay is ok, but like i said. it is just way to long and it drags down the gameplay. Layout: 4/5 Detail: 3/5 Gameplay:3/5 Average value: 3/5 stars: Average -Hardcore_gamer

#2 I thought that too but then I played some episode one levels. #3 Everyone his own standards of course but: it's smaller then most doom 1 maps. Loved it.

Another very nice oldschool E1M1 replacement! Plays very well and length is just about right! 4/5 - Optimus

This map for Doom is as E1-like as a map can be. It's a building with brown and green stone walls, some small outdoor areas and some nukage areas. The challenge is rather low, the hardest monster being the Demon. But it's also very small, so it was quite entertaining for a short fun, after all. 3.5/5 -Milian

This author is great at classic style and while this one is a bit weaker than his others, it's still worth a go. 4/5

This is a strange level. It feels rather convoluted or random all around (both in layout and texturing), not really giving the moody impression that Romero's levels give, nor the vertigo in the action. As the author says he was just playing around with the editor, and that shows in the result. His E1 tribute episode (CHRetro) showed more focus, and I'd recommed it over this. A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?
