About This File

A short trip through hell, set on by a classic Doom story. Originally intended as just a Boom compatible level, I got a little carried away with it, especially the ending credits\scenes. It carries in at over 10 Mb because of the ambient sounds used... so turn off any music you have playing, turn up the volume on other music in ZDoom and enjoy! If you want to know your kill percentage, secrets found and playing time, wait until after the ending credits. This will run under GZDoom provided it supports ZDoom r538's features, but some lighting will look strange or too dark, no matter what setting.

This is a solid, fun set of five levels. Playing on UV I found the ammo was tight in spots and abundant in other places. These hell themed maps look great once you get off the base at the start of the set. Exl makes good use of the stock Doom textures along with a few custom textures. The additional ambient sounds adds a lot to the atmosphere (try wearing headphone with this one).. Eventually you end up in a battle with enough enemies to shingle hell and.... it was tough, but I survived to talk about it. In my opinion this wad is worth playing just to experience the first couple maps and the rest is good too.... there's some really cool looking areas to explore and Exl isn't cheap with the secret areas, many of which I didn't even find (I missed 10). So yeah, this one is fun, looks good, so go play the damned thing and enjoy yourself.

A very good wad without any doubt. However, that this wad has places where there are textures of red stone blocks when normal stone blocks could have been used makes the person who made this wad look as if he were trying to be edgy, and not in a good way. In addition, the fact that writings have been put on the walls of certain areas as a joke, in a way, ruins the tone that this wad possesses. Not to mention that stupid of putting mini-cyberdemons that was completely retarded, again, taking into account what this wad looks like, in general. To finish, everything else is fine but the rest of the things I mentioned before subtract enough points from this wad, and it's a shame. In the end, this wad receives a 6 out of 10.

While this may be a decent wad, it's not my type, I hoped for maps like MAP01 where it's a quick experience, but instead was left playing maps that mostly resemble rooms and hallways that go for a time too long. 2/5

Nice. Sidenote: The soundtrack is one of the best parts of doom. This is cool too, i was just struggeling to comprehend the the moron who acted like playing doom without music was still playing doom. ~BeyondNecroDome

The first base level made me think "wtf, this sucks" but once I got through the portal I stood in complete awe. Epic, although I slightly increased my r_visibility level to get rid of that overwhelming darkness. 5/5 Zalewa

Not at all bad... Looks great and has lots of atmosphere (10Mb to be precise :) It's a shame the link for the latest ZDoom doesn't work... although the latest GZDoom ( 1.0.24 ( http://grafzahl.drdt eam.org/ ) ) works fine. BTW: anyone who plays DOOM with the music on needs to be pimp-slapped. 4/5

A base that subverts into something more sinister (like sub-ep from Pablo Dictter) The background noise, lighting, some new effects and (surprisingly) doom textures add to a great hellish atmosphere. In my first run I missed perhaps the whole second level Think that was related with a megasphere secret. I didn't like the gameplay in that first run. In my second run I played the whole second level and that made a whole difference gameplaywise. Recommended 5/5 coldfusio.

This is an interesting variation on the glut of recent retro levelsets; it looks great, with an epic sense of scale, but at the same time the design is fairly simple and a little bit retro. It's a million miles from the old 1994/95 "castle" levels that are in the archive. The gameplay is pretty good too, nice and wandery, although not very hard. There are lots of cold, spooky, windy background noises that would be spookier if I wasn't playing this in the summer.

A rather nice WAD, with good creepy atmosphere at the beginning (unfortunately it loses it a bit later on) and rather unobtrusive scripting.

i'm agree with coldfusio, this map is very beautiful. A trip from phobos/deimos to hell, and in the warping dimension remembered me Chrono Trigger for some reason. 4/5 Daimon

It has scary good atmosphere. Got me puzzled what I have to do there in level 4. Also hard and let me without ammo for the cyberdemon in level 3 but probably because I kept killing the cacos without knowing what to do at first. 4/5 - Optimus

Just drag it on the zdoom.exe. You can also try the file parameter run: path to zdoom -file path to dop.pk3. The beginning is easy but the last parts are very hard.

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
