About This File

First map I’ve finished in the last 3 years. It is also a very short level.

This is a nice, short map. It's done in an E1 style, although it has Doom 2 monsters, and the detail is up to modern standards. The only problem is that, after playing's this week's Cheogsh, it seems very simple and easy in comparison; you have loads of health (the soul sphere is silly) and plenty of ammo, and the "boss monster" is a single baron of hell. There are some mancubuses but they are behind doors, so you can dodge 'em easy.

You say you are giving up on trying to map? This thing is better than most of the stuff we see here. Make another! Please!

Your average "Simplicity: Because Complexity Sucks" wannabe, complete with symmetry, crampedness, linearity and overdetailing (luckily, mostly on the ceiling). It's just a series of small rooms connected with doors and most fights are uninteresting. Mehhhhhhh.

You should make more maps. But try to stray away from making a detailed box and then connect it to another detailed box. Make larger areas, you have potential.

Well, no wonder you gave up on trying to map... this is overdetailed. If you want to make something really pretty then map with the doom 3 engine. Otherwise you're not showcasing your creativity as a map designer. Also, this was way too easy (finishing with 160 cells and 190 health is pretty tame, don't you think?)

Loved the look, gameplay was fun. Was a tad tight space-wise and would've loved this map to be longer. Even so, I enjoyed it very much. 4/5

Unplayable in vanilla, due to visplane overflow in starting room (grab chainsaw, turn around...) and also when going through the first door.

To play this in vanilla, one needs to rename FF_END to F_END and use Doom-plus (at the PrBoom-plus site). This level is not entirely bad but I think its cramped architecture is not very good looking and ruins play (which is arguably easy, as someone noted above.) Too much clutter and too much junk detailing to walk over. At least the guy could sense he wasn't doing something great, unlike some people commenting. [2/5] ~Chain Mail (07/2011)

Limit-removing maps go in Ports. How many times I gotta repeat this? Now go sit in the corner and make more maps, nobody is allowed to quit Doom...

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
