About This File

One level for any boom compatible and limit removing ports. PrBoom-Plus or GZDoom are recommended. To play this PWAD file, unzip it into the directory with your PWADs then start: glboom-plus.exe -file epic.wad -complevel 9 (g)zdoom.exe -file epic.wad

Important:

Do not play map05 in the current prboom (up to 2.4.8 for now), because of:

a) All existing versions of prboom are buggy on levels with big open areas - precision problems. The latest Eternity release (3.33.33) also can't handle map05 correctly - the same precision problems. Use the latest SVN alphas.

b) The current glboom-plus (2.4.8.2.beta) is much faster on levels with sectors which have too many lines. I got 80 fps in glboom-plus instead of 50 in glboom at map05.

c) Vanilla GLBoom doesn't have an option for quality rendering and it is very noticeable on some levels, especially on the big tower at map05 and in the second room at map03 - big white strips and dots on corners. The effect doubles on ATI cards. Light sky is a headache of prboom. So gl_render_precise should be 1. I hope this variable will be removed in the future versions and quality mode will be forced.

Note: gl_depthbuffer_bits in glboom-plus.cfg should be 24 or 32 to avoid some rare small glitches.

Yo can download the latest prboom-plus here: http://prboom-plus.sourceforge.net/history.html

Just damned good stuff. "Eternal"/Deadall must be mapper of the year, hands down. [Suggest the first three reviews are removed now that the file has been successfully uploaded.]

Really cool map set and well designed: Not too difficult but challenging enough, good balance and placement of ammo and monsters. Music is OK, at least it's original (in the sense that I haven't heard them before). Apart from the train map they are of good size, not too big but I got a little lost here and there. Just missed the BFG, and oh, it's only 5 maps. 3,5 stars, rounded up it becomes 4. Great stuff.

The most detailed, unique game. You play on a moving train with moving scenery. It feels so real its insane.

The file is not corrupt now at least on the Germany mirror, but the size in header is incorrect. The correct value is 3276KB. Each level has a unique sub-style: Duke, Call of Duty in Africa, Eternal, Train attack and Big Bada Boom. I liked all of them much.

MAP04 is a ripoff of E1M4 of Phobos: Anomaly Reborn.

This was a lot of fun. It took a while, but I never got lost or confused, and the battles were always great. The graphics were top-notch, some of the best, and the final map really lives up to the title of this WAD. Good work :) 4.5/5

nice design and overall very good gameplay, things are very good executed, you sometimes can get lost and there are sometimes switches where you don't know what they do, nonetheless it's brilliant 5/5

It's about damn time something interesting and cool gets released onto the /idgames archives instead of those shitty "jokewads". These were really impressive maps. The new textures were a very nice touch. That tank on that first egypt level and the train map were pretty cool. The last map is very big. There are plenty of intense fire fights. It's a shame that it's only 5 levels long. Aside from that, this wad definitely deserves this score: 5/5

I just finished this this 5 map pack, and I really enjoyed it! The tower on MAP05 really gave the impression of an immense, imposing structure. Another aspect I liked was that the effect of a switch was often visible through a window, or otherwise obvious. The Description is a bit off-putting; I played this in combination with the Real Guns Hardcore mod, with no problems, no special config necessary. 4/5

Nice graphical edits, great use of the Eternal Doom resources and a very cool Indiana Jones style to the whole deal. Loved it, although I found that the 2nd and 4th maps were the hardest, and the final map was actually rather easy. Great show all the same though, so that's another 5* for this author.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
