About This File

This is a medium sized to large level for Doom2 that replaces Map28. Expect a rather hellish challenge.

This is dated October 2007. It's strangely familiar. You slaughter 227 baddies in an E3-esque hell castle. It's tricky the first time, with a dearth of ammo unless you find the hidden plasma gun, and has an atmospheric battle in a dark church at the end. Against it, the long winding cavern leading there is repetitive, and you have to clear it out it twice, and the BFG at the end is a bit OTT. Nonetheless it's a fine example of the mapper's art.

pretty good, I enjoyed it. had no problems from a pistol start. the later areas were dark and tough but manageable. worth a play, 4 stars.

Nice level. I think the two hell knights were a bit mean when going down the lift.

overall a good map, very nice looking, could need some improvements though: more non-linarity, unique details, gameplay at the end... but it's good 4/5

Nice map, with good gameplay. I like Pauls maps a lot and this is one of his better. Playable with pistol start. 4/5 - Damned

Not bad, pretty average maybe a little better. It would have been nice to not have the blood pools cause damage. 11/4/07

Pretty cool replacement level for MAP28. The level looks pretty good. It was pretty challenging but I was able to beat it with 12% of health. Why can't you make cool stuff like this instead of those joke wads? 4/5

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
