About This File

"They say the base was built on an old Druid castle..." This is the first map I have made in years. I came across the new Edge release and thought I would try it out and see if I could still create a Doom map after so long a time. This isn't a large map but might be good for half an hour, maybe an hour, of play. You will need to jump and crouch in spots to access some areas. Use the "move up" key to climb the ladder. This map doesn't use any fancy DDF/RTS. It is a fairly standard shoot/switch/key map with a few puzzles (including a Doom classic) and some 3D stuff thrown in.

Structure is good, but didnt like the gameplay that much. 3D effects are nice though. 2/5 -r_rr

This starts out as a dull, mazey dungeon switch-o-thon, although it improves into a modern-looking techbase. Ironically, despite being in 3D, it has a real retro Doom I feel, with mostly weak monsters and some extremely mellow traps. The gameplay is of a variety whereby you hunt for switches, and then backtrack to find the thing that has changed. It looks lovely, but it's really easy, except for a lava puzzle that I wasn't fond of.

A newbie map set. The big problem is that several levels have permanent dead end traps which don't even kill you. An interesting level is 3 which is just a big 2D maze of joined squares and very many monsters. Otherwise the episode is plagued by these problems.

Yet another garish "NEMESIS" level. Sounds are replaced with stuff from other games, such as Doom, Warcraft II and other games. As the text says, this map has D'sparil, but fortunately you don't need to fight him. To get ahead, you need to pass through an illusionary wall. In general the map is full of contrivances.

Even though it has potential, I just found an early exit, meaning it's trivial.

A newbie level, based on how it's designed and the weird or misplaced features. It's a pretty long and tough adventure, but clearly doesn't show much experience.

First in the UCA series, cool hellish-tech theme adventure, inspect closer the hole at the beginning and the baron's den (unmarked door).
