About This File

Mainly E1-style shooter level, not impossible, a bit harder than the original E2

A complete mix bag with some good ideas but suffers from cramped rooms & bad hitscanner placements mixed with the high density of monsters.

Cramped, tedious, faceless. Competently executed but lacks a spark.

Definitely not E1 Style. In fact, this is a mixture of styles unlike anything else. There are textures from E1, E2, E3, and E4. Some realistic details are used that belong more in Duke3d - such as toilets, chairs, theaters, etc.. I never was a fan of realistic detail in Doom, although the author should get credit for the effort. The game play is a nice challenge, and ammo is well balanced. Smallde1.wad will appeal to people who are looking for something completely different.

This gets a 5, because it perfectly captures what Doom should be all about.

Aside of weak visuals and bad music selection, many gameplay flaws is here: greedy ammo/health balance, tight space, high monster density, interfering overdetailing (for example try to play m7 from scratch). Anyone who voted this stuff as 5 stars is completely sick. **

in doom.exe, choco and prboom(soft) it looks simply horrible. defenitely zdoom & jdoom is bad choice for testing "just limit removing" maps. sounds is awful too. *.

It's not super high in production value, but the wad can be very enJoyable if you have a very itchy mouse hand, and by that I mean you'll be shooting left, right and center all of the time, not to mention sweating profusely to get your accuracy down pat so that you can breath comfortably with 30-something % health and more maddening zombies chasing your backside... phew I can pause and breath now... But, yeah, very good maps if not too hard or overpopulated.

I don't know why files are not processed anymore. But anyway I downloaded this wad and really enjoyed playing it. I really enjoyed the retro like designs of the maps but some areas were unrealistic and I didn't like some of the music in the wad. Definetly a download that should be taken not of. 4 Stars -PC

This wad is awesome. No, I really mean it: This wad is Awesome. There is definitely enough detail, monster placement is good, it's fast paced, a good challenge even for more seasoned doomers... The only possible downside is that the map layouts in general tend to be simplistic and sometimes a little repetitive, giving off a slightly amateurish feel. But who cares, there's tons of great authentic Doom action to be had! Play it, now! 5/5

pretty darn good. fun as all hell but sometimes a bit annoying with all the damn hitscanners! still a lot of fun though. detail's fine, but some of the texture choice and architecture is a bit iffy. based on the readme, i expected it to be pretty easy. it definitely was not easy, especially not m9. ***** for gameplay *** for visuals (i gave it 4)

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
