About This File

The first edition of the sequel to the original Deus Vult. Heavily emphasizes co-op play and demo recording. Offers a wide variety of gameplay spanning nine levels, including gun n' run maps, slaughterfests, and tight survival maps. From small techbases to hellish cathedrals, Deus Vult II's levels are diverse in architecture as they are in gameplay, and offer a little bit of everything for the entire family.

Overrated. Very, very overrated indeed. From an aesthetic viewpoint, the architecture's fine, I can't argue with that. Nobody can. But... ...the level themes are all over the place. The only consistency is that they all clash horribly. Also, the gameplay stagnates on the later maps and the constant running back and forth becomes incredibly tedious. On another note, there is the idiotic filesize too. 2/5

The large filesize makes no difference in my mind since this is one of the most epic things I've ever played. I love the intense environments and incredible atmosphere. [emphatically large number]/5

From my point of view flow and good monster placement suffered to an extent, so 4/5 from me. Still, the attention to detail and level design is often very impressive. ps. in my opinion single pistols are good because they validate the weapon hierarchy.

Outsdanding. The architecture is great, the maps are incredibly varied, the monster count is often very high yet it remains a blast, gameplay is excellent overall, and some of the music is awesome (you should obtain dvii-1u.zip - see post on DoomWorld for even better music on some maps). The pack begins with a couple warm-up levels, but then the maps quickly increase in scale. If it becomes a full megawad of this quality, it will surely be one of the best megawads. EVER. WOW... Each of the Deus Vult II's map could stand up as its own project... Map01 (amazingly fast gameplay), Map03 (best atmosphere), Map12 (best theme), Map19 (most complex), Map21 (amazing architecture), Map22 (most original gameplay)... Not only is Deus vult II the best looking wad i came across, but its also the best playing one too... This is absolutely amazing and the best wad I have ever played. -Cory 5/5

Way too underrated actually. 4 and a half stars overall is just ont enough. This deserves 5 stars for all that work that has gone into it. This is a real masterpiece indeed.

Yeah!! Fantastic wad!! But really confusing in some maps like 21. Unholy cathedral. Players don´t know how to get into the central area, scape from the library... Why didn´t put switches??? Anyway My score is 4/5

Incredibly overrated borefest here, and bloated with all sorts of nonsense. Any possibility of experiencing a good flow during gameplay is ruined by a constant stream of tedious and repetitive spam-based combat. Architecture is needlessly over-complicated with stacks of unnecessary and barely-noticeable detail, and the worst ever compilation of custom textures and themes I've ever seen really is the icing on this dog's turd of a project. Crap. 1/5

Holy fuck crapped myself! Great gameplay, beautiful structures, and eye-popping use of colors within the Doom Palette! A masterpiece that can only be compared with the former, DV I! 5/5 - Kirby

It's amazing, and extremely fun for more than one playthrough. I replaced a lot of the music with mostly JFG and action doom music, and this also proves that you don't need GZDoom to make a beautiful wad, you just need a sense of actual style and a little creativity. My favorite level is torn between Stargate, Unholy Cathedral (which looks absolutely awesome), and The Deus Vult II Exam. There's no real reason this shouldn't have 4.5 stars at the least.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
