About This File

The Imp is back and this time, all the episode start maps have joined in. E3M1 from the previous standalone release is in this wad, refreshed and bugfixed. These maps are not the best, but they are certainly not the worst ethier. :)

E1m1 doesn't like me a lot, but for the rest is really nice looking - 3.8 stars

I liked the remake of the first map. Otherwise...the rest seemed a bit the same. 3/5 from me.-Candle M

Nice remake. I like the texture mix in e1m1, but I have found e1m4 almost the same as original. 4/5

Pretty impressive. Nice remakes, same layout and theme as the originals with a few fun and clever design liberties taken. The original E4M1 is such a piece of crap, it's hard to do anything nice with it at all. It's quite humbling to see a 15 yearold can detail better than most people ever will. 3.5/5

This is one of those retro mapsets that remixes the original levels; there must be a dozen E3M1s by now. Nonetheless this is pretty good. The maps are recognisable, the design is tasteful, they're fun to play, and E2M1 has a clever bit in the secret maze. E4M1 is a let-down though, because it's basically the same as the original. I missed about twenty monsters, because the red key trap doesn't work unless you shoot - but you've already killed everything.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
