About This File

Deathmatch level for Doom2! Very addicting and excellent layout! This WAD is guarenteed to make you a Doom2 Deathmatch Junkie! :)

THOSE OF YOU WHO KNOW MY MAPS, KNOW BY NOW I BUILD MOSTLY WITH DEATHMATCH IN MIND, SO SINGLE PLAYER GAMES ARE STILL FUN BUT NOT AS MANY PUZZLES, NO KEYS IN MOST SINGLE PLAYER GAMES.

"Let's kick some tail". I don't get why the other reviewers get their panties in knot, this is pure, unadulterated 1994 fun...even though the map is actually fom 1997. Early 1997, so let's cut it some slack, m'kay? As the zombiemen say when they die "you fuckin' chill" (?).

OK, the new sound effects sound like something I'd have done back in 1994, with the newly discovered joys of "multimedia" and such, but they sure got a chuckle out of me, and that's enough to get two stars.

Map design...well, TBQH only MAP01 and a few others like MAP11 (the one in the "KEEP" screenshot) and MAP13 (the one with the black boxes/keens) seem to be somewhat decently designed for single player, and even those are way too easy. A pistol start is a must if you want to have something remotely close to a challenge.

It also shows the map designers weren't actually incompetent, even though the progression/traps are very predictable. Most of the maps consist of boxy rooms/plain open arenas with few variations, even though there are some nice touches and ideas here and there, but they obviously couldn't keep it up for 21 maps.

What makes the gameplay tedious however is a certain proclivity by part of the authors to avoid the use of switches, while the maps are designed around a "hump random wall X to open new section Y, monsters pour in, rinse, repeat" formula so get used to A LOT of wall humping unmarked walls and random textures, backtracking and "where the fuck do I go now?" moments if you want to max most maps.

TBQH I don't get how any of those maps would be good for multiplayer and particularly Deathmatch, as they are waaaay too large.

"Deathmatch"

Avoid playing this, it's really not that good.

MAP INTENDED FOR DEATHMATCH PLAY ONLY. WAS ORGINALLY DESIGN TO PLAY OVER A MODEM WITH ONLY 1 OTHER PLAYER. THE MAPS WOULD BE REALLY HARD TO PALY BY YOURSELF. hUGE LEVELS DESIGN FOR LONGER PLAY, DOORS AND SWITCHESS HIDDEN SO THAT YOU HAVE TO SEARCH FOR SWITCHES. ALL FEATURES BY DESIGN ON PURPOSE. I WAS THE ORIGNAL BUILDER OF THESE MAPS. WHO WAS CHARGING? STYX64@HOTMAIL.COM

Fun running around and shooting bots in deathmatch, though not very imaginative level design, and some spawn points get you trapped (areas that can only be revealed from one side).

Below average maps. Single player sucks because there's too much health and ammo. Anyway, thanks to FunDuke for making it available for free. :)

One of the classic megawads, and the successor to TNT Evilution. I've played this several times over the years, and its grown on me more with each play as my tastes mature.   Still has a bunch of maps that got me killed in 2024, after ive finished stuff like HR and AV, and plenty of maps are memorable. Only real downsides is some of the levels have little content, showing its age.

One of the earliest Doom user maps and It shows. Despite the raw and empty design, the author take a good use of 3D space creating a small fortress surrounded by mountains, the level Is fun to play and not hard. A fancy escapade and a piece of modding history.

Third and final released map of a WIP episode by David Rager, it's more long, complex and hard than the previous entries in the series. A well made map with pretty challenging parts with a mix of monster usage, envoirnmental hazards and some puzzle gameplay. Fun but pretty harsh.

Two more misplaced DM maps without a exit like QUDOOM (that at least had a exit room, while not functional) that caught me by their file name and leave me for the bad experience in SP. Chicken is just a long bridge between a thundering abyss where cyberdemons wants to destroy you, meh. Gangstar is a more fun map sets in a big, abstract warehouse where a cyberdemon roam free trying to kill you, shotgunners and lost souls are here in this Hell corner adding more pain to the thing, enforced by semi-hidden mazes, my favorite.

This is like the physical version of the "we have X at home" meme in DM map format for Quake E1M1. Very poorly made, broken exit and missing textures here and there but at least the level KINDA resembles the original source somehow.
