were not great. some maps [like "project dark fox" hwoever that is] where awful when put up those like vader and xaser. i think the fan on 2-5 is broken, and everything on episode 3 looks like a torm667 map. not even vader could saved this. im very sorry.

That was horrible, the detail was extremely inconsistent, the gameplay consisted of forced nonlinearity by substituting switchhunts as legitimate gameplay elements, and the final boss was a frustrating twat.

Awesome WAD! Great atmosphere, gameplay and use of zdoom features. The hellish levels set my teeth on the edge. This is precisely what I look for in a doom game. 5*

Rocket Zombies do NOT need to exist. A very cheapshotting monster that serves to either kill itself very quickly or utterly annoy the player. I stopped playing when I saw one. I can't really rate this, not having played in through, but what I did see wasn't that impressive anyway. 3/5

Words are'nt enough to describe how amazing this wad is. Absolutely outstanding pack, including maps with varied themes. The maps are all solid and great, and yeah. I can't really describe this wad's awesomeness, so I'll just give it an absolute 5/5. Epic stuff right there. -Moti

"oh noes, a wad with lots of ZDoom features, beastiary monsters (which are there to be used btw) & jumping/crouching... SACRILEGE!!!11" - if you don't like that sort of thing, then don't play it. I was rather impressed by this wad...some of the maps did seem generic, but there's plenty of cool stuff here. Gameplay was decent too, new monsters used well and some tough set-pieces. This is the sort of thing ZDoom was made for…lots of cool features but still Doom at it’s core.

Yeah, that's really cool how all the people that helped make this project were the first ones to rate it 5 stars each. Nevertheless, I am not one to try to "balance" the ratings out like other people, but I do think that was uncalled for and that these levels left a lot to be desired. It's one thing to map in a theme, but it's also another to make them all seemingly the same!

"the rest of them seem to be Torm-wannabe maps" odd, i failed to see how Terror Cube and Spirit Underworld were Torm Wannabe maps, the rest i agree with for the most part though

GZDoom + ZPack + Brutal Doom = Best wad of all time... I'm not just saying that. 5/5, without question. Thanks for not adding new weapons. I like to mix my wads with brutal Doom :)

We all can agree that Vader's maps are crème de la crème of DOOM editing. But I was far more impressed by Zippy's, Phobus' and Xaser's work. Why? They were innovative and that alone makes this megawad stand out. Other maps were very good just not as memorable. And for all those who believe this project sucks (appart from map "x" or maps by "y") - make your own project and prove YOU can do better. 5/5

I actually like most of the maps. There are a few not-so-good ones, but even those aren't truly horrible. I gave it 5 stars.

i'm in e2m5 and this map is fucking frustrating!!! i can't kill the fucking black revenants because they keep reviving and killing me and i tried to use RL to gib them but didn't worked! i have 58% health and 12 armor but i don't have plasma or bfg to gib them!! PLEASE HELP! also the previous 2-3 maps were so damn hard that i swearing enough and rage quit many times, the maps lack health, most of time i had around 20% health, i'm playing at skill HMP.

Loving the last two levels of Episode 1. Especially the music used on E1M9! Really set the mood. Haven't had a Doom (in this case Zdoom) wad do that for a good while now :)

Some of the maps aren't all that great, but some are really good IMO. I think that E1M3,7,8,E2M3,6,7,E3 M7,8,0, and perhaps also the boss maps (M9) in some episodes, at least episode 1, are too good to miss. Other maps (E1M2,4,E2M1,5,0 (interesting "funny" level), and perhaps E3M3,4) are certainly worth your time. The other maps are really pretty average (some perhaps even worse), but I'm glad I played this pack and can recommend it overall. 3.5+(4)/5

This is a solid pack. There are some interesting levels here filled with detail, custom monsters and other ZDoom features. I found some maps a bit tedius and difficult, even on skill 2 though. Also the quality of the gameplay changes from amazing to 1994 styled, which will annoy some players. Overall, great pack. Could have used some new weapons though. 5/5

A bit hestitantly, I'm giving this 5 stars. There are a lot of average/even weak maps but some make this a must download IMO. Even disregarding Thunderpeak since that was released separately, I'd consider it to be near-criminal to miss out on Vader's other big map (Blackrock), Zippy's Terror Cube, or Xaser's Sector. Those three maps alone warrant the entire download IMO. I also feel all of Tormentor's maps here (E1M3,7; E2M3,7,9) were very good, and so was skillsaw's E3M8.

Monster resource pack abuse, didn't feel like Doom at times. And Flyboy is just stupid.

Gotta take in count the effort put on doing this Just one big let down... why, why the hell Tails is an enemy?? :-(

At some point I thought "is this a jokewad"?  Cause you enter a map and just in front of you you have the exit button, just like that.  Some maps have some decent design, but the choice of monsters might not be the best, and nazis, why the need to put nazis on several maps? Maps with 0 monsters, 0 secrets, just a freely exposed Romero head spawning monsters, a couple of maps are just you at the beggining in front of the Romero head, other maps are like "hey grab whatever weapons and ammo you can before Romero spots you".

Not bad for an early 1994 level to be honest. It isn't good, but not bad. Being a Wolf3d fan I don't mind long corridors in maps that much, although the decoration could have been better that's for sure. If you're into old maps and corridor-esque maps, give it a shot.

Partial truth in advertising - "This PWAD represents the combination of just 27 of some of the best levels I have found on the net." - maybe for a brief 6 month window in 1994. But compared to traditional/old school maps since, this selection would scrape through as a C- if you were grading school homework. Barely a pass. Mostly dull, bland and repetitive maps you have played elsewhere - maps you groan through and forget 2 seconds after you have finished them. Supreme ordinariness, nothing you ever want to see again. This is only of historical value. Not exactly enjoyable play. Nosireebob.

I'm not very good at reviewing so bear with me: If you want a quick and fairly easy WAD then this is for you. It starts out fairly easy as well as being fairly linear and than it gets harder as it goes on. It's also fairly short too as it took me about an hour or two to complete on UV difficulty in GZDoom using the Doom (strict) compat mode.   The new textures were a nice addition although they were only featured in the last few maps. There are a lot of switches and "rising structures" (floors & lifts) but the placement of them is decent so they aren't a nuisance. The switches open doors or activate lifts that are pretty much right in front of you or in an area that you've just past through so the maps aren't that confusing (which is a good thing).   The one thing that i did not like about this WAD was that the exits were not marked. I exited a few levels with only 50% or so of the map explored due to the exit just being a normal looking switch. In a map that has quite a few switches that activate doors and lifts, you need the exit too look different or at least have an exit sign above it imo.   I did notice a few misaligned textures but tbh that's normal for 1994. Also, there are different sounds for weapons and some monsters as well that kind of annoyed me. I don't usually mind sound replacements and i know that a lot of early maps had them but this one just really got on my nerves at times. You'll hear GROOVY! a lot and it's not as cool sounding as Duke Nukem saying it, even though it is the actual sound clip from Evil Dead 2 (i believe).   Other than that this E1 replacement played alright for a '94 mapset, having decent layouts and monster placements. I give it 3 1/2 stars mainly because of the exit issue that really bugged me and the sound replacement not being my favorite.   [Oh btw, i played continuous. I tried playing pistol start only on a few maps but i just couldn't do it. I'm not sure if it's possible tbh. Maybe some of the weapons are hidden in secrets because i often found ammo in levels for some but not the weapon for it.]
