About This File

a map limited to a 1024x1024 square (some geometry extend beyond this boundairy, but the player and all gameplay happen within this area). this map was made when the 1024 contests and community projects were just starting to get popular. Never released until now. Its a short, claustrophobic castle map with lots of brown bricks and metal (my favorite stock textures!).

This is from way back in July 2008, long before Bruce Willis became president. It's one of those 1024 maps that were popular a while back; it's basically a small castle, and feels more open-plan than the others. The difficulty level is very modest - although you'll run out of shotgun shells at the first trap unless you're careful - but overall it's a good quick blast. Most of the 1024 maps turned out well, perhaps Doom works best in tiny doses.

Very nice 1024 map - but there's nine enemies that just don't teleport in. :/

This is what 1024 maps are all about. Tight passages, tight health, tight ammo, plenty of gameplay. You even include a separate area teleport secret, very clever use of space. 5/5

Too small. Make it bigger, seriously.

Good level. I actually wish all the single-release 1024 levels could be put into a compilation. It would probably serve as another good near-megawad.

Nice. It got a bit challenging in a little teleport trap, not much but a enough to be fun. Aesthetically I really liked the pillar holds on the walls, how they are designed. 5/5 - Optimus

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
